I think my eVic will be great for on-the-go vaping, but I also plan to buy a Janty MiD, especially if a co-op forms. They're two very different paths, and I think both are good indications of the future of vaping.

Right now, the eVic reminds me of the first generation of cell phones. It's clearly a revolution, but it needs some work.

I feel the same way as you, have a Evic on order, and will be buying a Janty MiD as soon as they are out.

Its realllllly hard to get the camera to iPhone to focus on a screen embedded over a round piece of plastic..

Kinda blurry, but still obvious... not to make the irony or situation worse...

the eVic, was my...

A) 6 months "Smoke Free" Present to yourself
B) My Present to my self on my 25th birthday...(Which was yesterday)

Sad Face -> http://db.tt/ThQJX23i

Happy (belated) Birthday!

Janty mid, you get full featured device and then unless you pay more money the features turn off?

It's the "try before you buy" model, which has worked so well for computer and smartphone software ... and since the MID is essentially a software product, I can see why they're adopting it. And don't forget the inevitable "add-on" packs that will follow. More stuff to buy ... Of course, just like computer hardware, in order to run all the features of the "MID 2013 v1.2" operating system, you'll need to upgrade your controller head hardware and start using 26650 batteries to meet the greater power requirements of the WiFi ... you know how it goes. :laugh:

UPDATE: Ovale is investigating.. nothing OFFICIAL... I am sure if they get info they will post an update. They <3 us here!

I have a replacement being shipped out TODAY... OVALE, I'm not mad at you for going home a little early on "Hump-Day", hell, I did...

Maybe by the time i get my replacement, I'll have a cool (im still dreaming here) Firmware update to fix that AMP limit... and some other things... that are not official yet, because well, 1/ 1,000,000 evics made that have a pic / burn mark reported.

Final Score =
Ovale = A+++
JoyTech = "I like being taken out to dinner, get the wine and dine, before you bend me over and" ........... take my money
Score before eVic release on their hardware (overall = 8.5)
Score after.... (overall = 6) & IF..IF i ever do JoyTech again, Ill be waiting for 2+ months I guess to know if its solid

None that I'm aware of. Yet.

Supposed to hit in the next few days, hopefully. I know the reviews are mixed on the e-Vic but for me, I vape at 8 watts so it performs well for me. I have no interest in anything above 10 so for vapers like me this is a good product especially for gadget geeks. It's not for everyone and there are cheaper options like the Vamo that would probably make more people happier (I am getting one of those too.) I like the possibilities in upgradability and possible hacking of the e-Vic. I hope someone hacks the code and we get some customs Roms like they do on Android.

I can understand custom Rom hacks for Android and other phone type devices, but seriously would you really want to install a hacked Rom for something like the Evic? The potential for serious injury if someone got it wrong with the code would put me off even thinking of installing any unofficial Rom upgraded for a PV, anyone that did install a hacked Rom and it went wrong, would only have themselves to blame if went terribly wrong.

And that would be just the kind of news we would not like to spread in the media, someone seriously hurt with a PV, and then to make matters even worst it turns out it was self inflicted due to them using an official version of the PV Rom.

I have been in IT over 30 years and have done a fair bit of coding myself over the years, and have no problem with hacked software etc. but things to do with safety I draw the line.

Thanks

I don't think they can change anything to dangerous with software, you could look at the nature of the hack and determine if there is a possible problem. it would be nice to see ohms on the coil instead of puffs, voltage etc. that I am sure they could change some info so it was more revalent. I hope someone with knowledge will find it worthwhile to see what the possiabilities are.

for me it's about unaccountability, official Rom at least I have the company to blame, unofficial Rom?

I'm not saying the possibilities are not interesting, but how many people out there know enough about such things to make an educated guess on whether the hacked Rom is safe to use or not?

Oh I get it my mate Mick said it was OK to use it, so I install it and BANG!!!!

And lets not forget there are some pretty sick people out there, anyone heard about viruses?
