I think I will wait till later for the eVic... I DO like the idea that it has the date and time..I hate to have to fumble with pulling out my phone to get that info (I don't wear a watch).
The Batt mAh selector can go.
I like the puff counter, but I could go to a menu for that..in the place of the normal screen display I would rather have the Ohm rating where the puff counter is.
I'm not going to rag on it at all because nothing is perfect and this is the first of its type as far as a computer interface...they will work it out..I will def get it after a revision or two.
Just my 0.02 Cents

Another thing...I too think that the TURN OFF Sleep mode should have an 'infinity' setting...but I figure if I set it to 60min, as much as I vape it would never go into sleep mode, lol

New video from PBusardo on YouTube.
A PBusardo Review - The eVic - YouTube

It's good to know that the temp warning does not actually shut the unit down since this would make it unusable in a lot of warmer climates.
(I would be safe except for 3 days of the year! Lol)

The larger battery is (I assume) required because it is driving a lot more than just the coil. The "2 second pulse" indicates that there is a parasitic load and the "sleep" mode is actually necessary to preserve battery life, especially for over-night.

It appears from this video that the unit does shut down when the battery is low and that the battery can still be charged, unlike the other report by "vappa". I wonder if "vappa's" battery could have been salvaged by using the USB charger in the unit.

I think this has a lot of potential and it has some functions that I have been waiting for such as the ability to charge by USB OR replace the battery. I also want the dynamic VW function. This is one step up from the iTaste suggesting the wattage but it is also one step behind the Vamo (now Bamboo?).

I am (anxiously) waiting to see what they do to address these features because I know they cannot please everyone. Perhaps they will offer various firmware versions depending on the features that an individual finds personally necessary?

Hi guys,

About this eVic device I'm telling you my opinion (because maybe I can help some people avoid making a bad decision about purchasing it and regretting it later).

Unfortunately I already purchased it many weeks ago (it's still on its way from China on a slow boat).
I haven't received it yet, but I decided to return the device for a refund totally unopened.
I won't even open the box because now I'm 99% sure that the device is unable to perform and provide all that functions and capabilities which the manufacturer advertised.
I'm afraid if I open the box I will lose the "return for refund" possibility so I'll send it back totally unopened.

I watched every existing YouTube videos about it and have read all the existing reviews.
My main problems with the device (excluding many smaller problems such as the bad build quality):

- This isn't a real variable wattage device (as it is advertised), because it doesn't have dynamic wattage self-setting function. All it has is a built-in simple voltage calculator based on wattage.
It's advertised as a VV/VW device and when I purchased it I wanted to buy a variable wattage device, a real VW device with "real-time" variable wattage setting function, means that the device checks the current resistance of the atomizer and it AUTOMATICALLY sets itself to the desired wattage. This is what variable wattage means!
- This device is advertised as a variable wattage device from 2W to 15W. Everybody says that it is unable to produce 15W. The maximum current output of the device is about 2.3 Amps and maximum wattage is about 10-11 Watts.
That's not good for me. When I purchased it, I wanted to buy a variable wattage device which is able to provide a 15W output. It's advertised as it is able to do it, but it it's not able to do it based on all the reviews out there.
- This device is totally inaccurate (the loaded voltage is not stable). A YouTube reviewer set it to 4.0 V. He tested it and the loaded voltage of the device is jumping around 3.8V to 4.3V. It's not stable and not accurate. Even the CHEAP eGo Twist is more accurate than this expensive eVic device.

If feel like I am (and everybody else who already paid for this device) was seriously ripped off by the manufacturer (Ovale or JoyeTech, I don't care which one invented this "vaping wonder").
They don't have the right to advertise something which is not true!
And they especially don't have the right to sell something on a much higher price than other MUCH more accurate and authentic devices which cost a LOT LESS.
Two expamples:

- eVic costs about 100-139 USD around the world.
- You can buy an eGo Twist for 20-25 bucks and it's even more accurate. The twist is not a VW device though, but the eVic is not a VW device neither. So I guess its fair to compare them.
- Or you can buy a Vamo/Bamboo (or whatever the hell they call it) for 40-50 bucks and it's ALSO more accurate and it has TRUE dynamic variable wattage function too and it has a TRUE 15W output too.
So this whole eVic thing is a huge rip-off in my opinion.

Even if the firmware will solve some problems, I'm not interested in any of the updates.
On the very day when I ordered this device, in the current version and condition the device was NOT able to provide the functions they advertised it with.
I'm not buying a device (I mean this is why I'll return it without opening it) because it MAYBE will have the desired/advertised functions SOME DAY after God knows how many firmware upgrades.

I don't want to say anything bad about anything and I don't want to hurt anybody's feelings, that wasn't my intention to write this post. So please leave out the flaming this time.
I decided to write about my decision here and explain it because it might help other people to decide if they want to buy this thing or not. In my opinion: noone should buy it right now. Maybe later after some upgrades.
In the current condition and version it doesn't worth the price the suppliers selling it on.

I feel sorry for you, I like mine, hoping they can make it true variable thru software but overall I would buy it again. No where near as bad as Zmaxx V1

I would still like to get it after they clean it up a bit...bringing the price down a little would be nice too, lol

Hey everyone,

I went by Ovale yesterday. Got a sneak peak at the new firmware. Scroll feature has been added, but buggy. turn collar 3 times in one direction and hold....scrolling starts, must move collar again to stop scrolling. output menu now has "switch" to go between VV and VW. This does not FULLY fix the Non-dynamic aspect, but it is now much easier to have VW function. Basically, dial the wattage up one then back down and that has the same effect as going into the output menu.

All of this is completely accurate.

I've been debating with several people whether a firmware update can fix this. If the underlying electronics cannot go above 2.3 amps well.... it's mod-Armageddon.

That remains to be seen. We looked at the device pretty closely on the most recent Vapelink show. But I've declined not to do a full review until the firmware is updated.

The upshot is: It doesn't perform in it's current firmware revision.

If I were Ovale/Joyetech I'd have a firmware revision out *yesterday*

Did they show you a voltage test?

Just asking, because if the regulation isn't fixed, more features doesn't mean much.

Am I the first victim?

I just pulled my (less than 48 hours old) eVic off my desk, Just finished charging the battery via USB, took a puff or two.... Returned to the desk, less than 3 min later.. and my eVic is off... and not standby off... and the control head was warm and the button didnt wake the device up.......

I disconnected the warm head and let it cool off.... waited 15 min, reconnected... and now

I HAVE A DAMN BURN MARK ON THE SCREEN!!!

Ovale, you had to dig the wound deeper by turning on that Voice Mail on support 30 min early today!

Its realllllly hard to get the camera to iPhone to focus on a screen embedded over a round piece of plastic..

Kinda blurry, but still obvious... not to make the irony or situation worse...

the eVic, was my...

A) 6 months "Smoke Free" Present to yourself
B) My Present to my self on my 25th birthday...(Which was yesterday)
