I had a bit of "the blues" when I quit too. My sleeping patterns have changed dramatically and I've actually had a hard time maintaining my exercise program - I never had that problem before.

As mentioned above, many of the chemicals in analogs affect us psychologically and chemically. It's been about a month for me and I'm not missing the analogs but it took me a bit to adjust to the change.

Welcome to the ECF!! In my limited non medical opinion -if the bluesy feeling doesn't subside, look into talking to your dr about a mild antidepressant until your body adjusts. Don't stress and recognize that this is temporary.

I had the same issues and the a low dose antidepressant made all the difference. Smoke free for almost 10 months now.
Good luck

It took two or three weeks for me to get over the tobacco withdrawal (not nicotine withdrawal). Some depression is normal as stated above. If it gets too serious in your case, get some help, but otherwise push through it. Reducing the tobacco gradually may help a little, reducing the symptoms and letting your body adjust more slowly but you have to quit it completely to get rid of the effects and push through the withdrawal eventually.

Hang in there. I have to say I had similar feelings. It is amazing that as time passes you gain a new enjoyment with the ecig and it eventually replaces the fond memories of smoking. Eventually I started to look at cigs as a negative. I really enjoy my ecig more than I ever did smoking which is truly amazing. It took time and effort though. Lots of will power, but it was all worth it. I have been smoke free since April 1st this year and I would never go back now. The thought of a cig makes me cringe now.

I haven't had a smoke since I got e-cig. I really am shocked I haven't smoked, since I've never been able to go a few hours. I won't go into my struggles with the e-cig itself, it's working well enough that I haven't smoked.

The odd thing is my emotions. I'm getting all emotional. Having feeling of loss, feeling lonely, feeling like certain things in life I enjoyed are over. I miss my mother, my old pets and other emotions. I'm a 35 year old man and this is puzzling me. Can anyone relate or shed some light on this. I feel strange!!!

Hi MJT! I know exactly how you feel! When I try quitting I feel like an emotional basketcase and I will cry at the drop of a hat. Though I'm sure that some of my circumstances are contributing, I can definitely say that quitting cigs makes it much worse. I think some of the chemicals in cigs are anti-depressants, so when we stop, even though we're getting nic from the e-cigs it takes a while for the body to readjust.
It's been a few weeks for me feeling like this but I haven't been vaping exclusively, I crumbled and bought a pack of cigs but am only smoking 1-2 a day. I literally could have written your post! I lost 3 pets in the last year and a half, so my home does feel lonely, my family is in NS and I'm in Quebec, so I miss them too! I think trying to quit is sort of the last straw that allows all the stress and emotions to come out.
Anyways, to sum up, I think it's quite normal for some people to feel like this, you can PM me if you want to commiserate, I don't have much advice except to try your best to stick it out, but I'm a good listener :)

I don't feel as bonkers today and I passed the 72hr mark. Still, I'm not myself right now. A lot of the things I love to do don't seem as important or exciting. My taste and smell haven't really bounced back yet, but I've been craving fast food and spicy food. I also got REALLY tired today.

Today I got higher strength juice. I was a pack to pack and a half a day smoker and I've only had 1 flavor in 18mg for most of the first 72 hrs. Now I have some new flavors and a 24mg bottle.

I really appreciate the input from everyone.

Elaine (CASAA) has written about this a few times. Many smokers have mild depression (I count myself in there, as does Elaine) and have been basically self-medicating as nicotine is an anti-depressant (as are most of those drugs they give you to quit smoking). So what you're describing sounds fairly normal to me, and my completely non-medical suggestion would be to increase the nicotine level you're using or go talk to a doctor about some other options.

Nothing at all odd about this. When my wife and myself quit 5 years ago, she was an emotional wreck! She was severely depressed, and felt as if someone had taken her best friend away! I didn't feel that way the first time I quit, but after getting my pv and quitting cigs completely, I'm very emotional! The littlest things can make me angry, upset, and sometimes bring me to the verge of tears. I felt that if I could crawl under a blanket, tell the world to shove it, and sleep for a few days, everything would be better. At least it only lasted about 3 days...
