Just re-read all of your replies, which just reinforced what I had said about the kind of folks populating this forum. Just great!

In reading your messages, one thing leaped out at me relating to feeling overwhelmed: the jargon. This is no different from any other hobby/profession/whatever. 501/808/cottonballs/etc.
Is there a glossary anywhere? I suspect when I learn the meaning of some of these words and phrases, it'll cut through alot of the confusion.

Half the problem when your new is figuring out what you want. Then you have to find what fills that need. The worst part is, when you get it all figured out, they come out with something new!

My general obvseration after several months of doing this is that a pair of VV ego style bateries and a half dozen either Evod or T2 clearos, depending how you like your vape, and a juice in a simple flavor you enjoy the taste of eating going 18%nic at 70pg-30vg will work for 80% of beginning vapors.

-Never buy a lot of any thing the first time
-Back up for back ups
-Stay away from the stinkies !

My last post was meant as a question for you, but I'm still fumbling with even how to post stuff correctly. So, how do you figure out what components work together and which don't and where do you get them all?

The 501 808D 901 all refer to the type of threading on the top of the batteries. Therefore, when you read that xx cartomizer fits 510's such as eGo's you know what will fit with what.
There is a listing of abbreviations. I will find you the link in a min, also when you see a phrase or word that is underlined, hover the mouse over it, it explains(sometimes) the meaning of the word.

It's no harder or more varied than say, buying a car. Loads of models, colors, options, power, and on and on... but you have a bunch if nice people here willing to help.
You sound like you found something that kills the craving for smoking, a great first step...:toast:
Read a bit and if you see something interesting mentioned, pipe up and ask if it doesn't make sense...:) (I promise you will not get flamed, because we all were where you are now) Search around for info and if you get really stumped there is a section called "Ask The Veterans" it has questions, and just one or two answers from long time users. (I spent a long time reading in there starting out:blush:)

The way I handled the buying urges, I figured out what 1/2 of what I spent on smokes was fair game for any vape gear I wanted. Once I had enough of a stock of juice, I turned to mods, different batteries, attys, catros, tanks galore...always staying under the 1/2 of smoke cost budget. I was amazed how much stuff I accumulated while still saving money over what I had spent on cigarettes...:)

Your "budgeting" method makes sense; hadn't thought of it that way.

Thanks. It sounds as if you built your own, as opposed to my having bought a kit from Halo. How do you go about doing this (where do you get the pieces and how do you know what will work together and what won't?

Here is a deal that has been listed here often for beginners: http://www.myvaporstore.com/Vision_Spinner_Joye_Ego_C_Twist_Combo_p/vvs-c.htm I would get one 650Mah battery for travel, one 1300mah for home, one evod to try the bottom coil style clearo and one I15 to try a top coil clearo. That will give you a good starting off point and a chance to try a few different things to see what may work for you. You can search around and find all the bits a little cheaper but this is one nice tidy order for $70.

Keep us posted, and stay off the stinkies!

The numbers tell you what fits together, match 'em up. I "fixed" the problem by buying adapters to fit most anything to anything...:) I liked to experiment with different toppers, bought one or two of each to try. Ended up with adapters for 401, 4801, 510 801, 808, ego and go-go threads... You can check my first post here was asking about 410 and 501 connectore (neither one exists..) I picked it up eventually...:)

Where to get stuff, the registered vendors on the front page of the forum is a great place to start. Pick one or two that carry the items you're interested in, your regular vendors will change as your tastes change.

Your "budgeting" method makes sense; hadn't thought of it that way.

Bought the adapters one or two at a time to stay under-budget. At this point my budget says I could spend up to $7,642.74... and I haven't come close to spending half my budget..:2cool: And I have about a 3 year supply of nic concentrate in my freezer for juice.

It can be overwhelming, the good news is you have a halo triton.
I love mine, 3 weeks in and it has never given me a burnt taste, or leak.
I wanted to try a VV battery, halo sells one, I did not have to worry about 510-808
Got a VV battery and another tank and some 3.0-3.2 omh coils recomended for the triton vv
I can concentrate on quiting, while reading about all the options
What I did is started with the triton, got 7ml juices, found the ones I liked, ordered 30ml bottles of them(tribeca and voodoo for me)
I have a system that satisfies my urge for analogs, and juices I love, now I can start branching out to mods and other juices.
Just ordered a sample pack of alice in vapeland juices to find more juices I like, while having 2 juices I know I like.

It is starting to be hobby like, but I also use the budget method, I try to spend half of what I spent on analogs
