The VTR has to be the most underated mod on the internet. It comes real close to the voltage output quality of the Provari around 700 kHz vs. 800 kHz. Its a nice compact package that hides in the pocket easily or you can buy a hand made leather belt attachment.

Now I do believe there is a slightly better flavor with the provari probably due to the superior voltage reg, but when you work 12-13 hr days you need flat top batteries.

Specifically the amazing Efest IMR 18650, this battery just doesn't quit. The Panasonic RCR comes close but the advertised extra capacity of the Efest is real.

But to be honest I would carry my Provari if I had room on my belt (carry a radio and a cell.) Mainly because its lighter.

But I rank the two products very close and am surprised there isn't much attention to the VTR here, its a fantastic alternative to the Provari (about the only one until of course you need >15W.)

I take one of each to work daily. Switching back and forth between a couple of fLavors during the day is one of the things that's helped keep me off regular smokes so far. The VTR is also my main mod to use while driving...very cup holder friendly and easy to deal with while driving. Carrying one spare battery that'll work in either device is a plus too.

I think the VTR was the last of the good 'last gen' apv's before the high wattage devices hit - I think it got washed over in the hype of the DNA mods. It's first run also had some issues with the connector ring, so it had a stutter before getting adopted widely.

My only gripes would be the restriction on topper size (the extension felt like a work around afterthought) and the weight of the thing. Pocket friendly for size, okay, but not for weight. Makes the provari (which has been likened to a Hummer for it's heft) feel like an ego.

Yes the VTR is a very good mod. I don't own one but usually carry one or both of my MVPs or a itaste vv but rarely carry one of my two Provari's. Mostly because if I'm going to lose one or sit on it or whatever I would prefer to do it to one of my cheapo mods. To me the Provari's are worth every cent I paid for them.
