Mechanicals can break too, if yours has any threading anywhere, that's a weak point.
That's a bit of a stretch don't you think? Do you worry about your car flying into pieces and being unusable because it's packed full of threaded bolts, screws, and pins?
Yes, that includes the 510 connection.
So? Don't ruin your threads.
This isn't something that just "breaks". If you're damaging the threads then YOU are the one doing the damage. If you need to buy backups because you don't know how to thread two pieces together properly then I'm not sure what to tell you. It's pretty sad though.
Most issues with a mech can be repaired, but if it's something that takes time or requires a replacement part, you'll be SOL if you don't have a backup.
Like I said, in most mechs there is only ONE moving part, and that's the button spring. If anything else breaks, it's because YOU broke it. If you need backups for protection against the things that you do then you need to learn how to take better care of your stuff.
Backup battery is understandable. Backup coil could be useful. But needing a backup mech mod? That's like saying you need a backup front door to your house, and to be honest, the front door is more complex and has more moving parts.
Those are rather arrogant and condencending statements IMHO. Not all mech mods are created equal nor are all of them manufactured with durable materials. And not everyone is handy with replacing broken parts themselves.
Not everyone is a fan of mechanical mods, myself included. I have some, but they were my first mods. I have moved in another direction which better suits my personal needs - regulated variable voltage mods.
The vape experience in a mechanical mod is dependent upon the charge status of the battery. This means it starts out great on a fully charged battery, but the vape gradually goes downhill as the battery is discharged during use. A regulated mod will keep the voltage output of the battery consistant to where you set it. Your last puff will be as good as the first until the battery is drained.
I change flavors 3 - 4 times a day. I like variety. Not all flavors taste their best at a voltage between 3.5 - 4.2 volts. Some taste better at a higher voltage. A mechanical can't do that.
And before you can say that I can always put a Kick into my mechs, I considered that and ruled that out as an option. Using a Kick often requires you to drop down to a smaller battery size, so that means less battery time. It requires you to remove the Kick each time you adjust the wattage, which I would do at least a few times a day with using different flavors (and require carrying a screwdriver small enough to turn the wattage adjustment screw on the Kick). The Kick is a rather fragile circuit board, so I wouldn't consider it all that dependable.
I prefer the convenience and ease of use of a regulated mod. I can make changes with voltage with a few easy clicks of a button. I like the built-in protective circuitry which a mech doesn't have. I like the convenience of a built-in voltage meter and ohm meter, which again a mech doesn't have.
