Nicotine is a vasocontrictor same as caffeine, decongestants, cold, flu & cough medicines and several dozen other drugs both OTC & prescription.

Most likley what your read was more scare tactics via anti vaping propaganda.

Have you noticed any side effects of vaping for 4 years, or do you feel better now than when you smoked?

First, nicotine does cause mild constriction of blood vessels. Second, there are very uncommon cases of folks with extreme sensitivity to nicotine that causes severe narrowing of the arteries, resulting in decreased blood flow. Folks with that will react to any nicotine source, whether tobacco, a nicotine patch, or even a vape.

As you're stating that you already have peripheral artery disease (although from the sound of it, not the rare one I mentioned) you should discuss with your doctor about nicotine use and harm reduction in avoiding a return to cigarette use.

Not really!..dont get a cough.there are more proplems with my blood vessels and stomach coming to light..That could be fact of past smoking ..i agree that other stuff causes similiar blood vessel narrowing, however, I vape everday and using high strenght nicotine..Now going to reduce strenght.
I strongly believe this info ought to be on the packaging.

This is a corcern!..for ppl with vascular disease..shouldnot be treated lightly!...

I ran a search on the UK government website for articles and wasn't running across anything scary.

Vape - Search - GOV.UK

But as stated in this thread, nicotine itself is a vasoconstrictor ... I'm sure you spoke to your doctor about switching to vaping as a result of a medical condition, (I know I spoke to mine about switching to vaping and only did it on his recommendation, I also keep him updated on a regular basis as to how I'm doing with vaping etc.)

If your concerned about vaping and your particular condition, talk to your doctor and ask his opinion on lowering your nicotine level to zero or whether or not its okay to continue using nicotine..

Do remember cigarettes are way more problematic for PAD than vaping. We always have to look at relative risk as nothing has 0 risk. Talk to your doctor about it and get their feelings about vaping to stay off cigarettes and its relation to your PAD. Good luck!

Thank you ..I honastly didnt think of Nicotine as causing any damage to blood vessels hence, I never discussed it with a Doctor.I did mention to a consultant that I had switched to Ecigs his reply'a lot safer than normal cig"..but, That was a few years ago and Maybe not as much know about side effects.
I used to smoke the lighest of the light 0.5 nicotine 0.5 tar etc.
Doont know why but when I switched I started on 12 mg nicotine. Then six months ago went up to 18mg.Got headache, nose bleed tummy problems.!.I went to 12mg two weeks ago.
I have now bought 6mg and next week I will go to 3mg eventually0..

Ecigs are better understood today than a few years ago, and in fact appear safer than cigarettes with each study that comes out. The issue of nicotine causing mild constriction is something known in medicine for decades, so nothing new to add in relation to that and vaping.

It sounds like your nicotine level in general is too high for you. Try reducing it to 6mg and see how that works for you.

If your blood pressure is running too high, the doctor might recommend you cutting out caffeine and nicotine out of your diet..

For me, if I cut out most of the caffeine I'm fine, but of course I don't have the medical problems you do .

It's always good to speak to your doctor, as everything you do, from eating and drinking to exercise and vitamins and vaping can affect your health..

With vaping instead of smoking, my health has greatly improved.

Anecdotal:

I was in for laparoscopic diagnostic surgery yesterday. They had one of those gadgets that measure blood oxygen levels on my finger. I stealth vaped in pre op, they were running Hours behind, and my oxygen level never went below 100%.

For whatever it's worth.....

While I was waiting in the ER for the results of heart and lung tests from a serious car accident a while back, I was also vaping stealthy and the only thing I noticed was a slight increase in BP right after chain vaping some higher than usual nicotine.

The anecdotal proof just keeps adding up.

Hopefully the diagnostic surgery went well and will tell you that all is well with you

I've been vaping for five years and during my past two physicals my blood pressure has been below the normal range. Certainly people have different genetics and body chemistries and I imagine that for some moderate to high levels of nicotine or even caffeine might not be a good thing. If this was a real concern for me, I would try to stay away from cigarettes and PVs that contain nicotine.

Unfortunately, I have a battle ahead of me. I will battle it and win. Just need to get things started and wait for results to find out how and what exactly we are battling.

I should know more by this time next week. I am woman, I am strong, hear me roar!

The plus side: I have an amazing immune system now that I've quit smoking. Haven't gotten sick in years, other than a slight cold couple of days. I don't take meds on a regular basis, if at all. Only an aleve if I'm totally desperate with a headache. Probably a total of 15 times in 4 years.

I refused pain meds and really don't need them even after this.
