hi i have a panzer black hawk which i have just built the rda to 0.3ohm with 2 coils now i was running 2 efest 18350 800mAh 3.7 volt batteries so it was 1600mAh and 7.4 volt combined now i was getting very good vapour but the batteries seem to get slightly warm even after a couple of puffs so i was advised to run a efest 18650 2500mAh 35a battery which stays cool but the vapour is no where near as good not even half i think its down to the coils not getting as hot.
just wanted a bit of advice as to weather it will be safe to run the 2 18350s or if i am asking for trouble and why am not getting much vapour with the 18650
With two batteries in series, battery mAh and battery maximum amp output stay the same, but the voltage is doubled.
With two batteries in parallel, battery mAh and maximum amp output are doubled, but the voltage stays the same.
It is not safe to run those 18350 batts in a mech mod at 0.3 ohms. Go to the
Steam Engine battery drain calculator. Click on "unregulated (mech)", enter 0.3 ohms for atomizer resistance, 8.4V for two batteries in series and you'll see in "Battery drain" the current from each battery is 28 amps. Power is 235 watts, which is quite high
The Efest 18350 has a
max amp rating of 6.4A and you were drawing 28A from each with fully charged batts. You're very lucky they didn't vent.
Go back to the Steam Engine calculator and make the voltage 4.2 like you get with a single fully charged batt. At 0.3 ohms current draw is 14A and power is 56 watts. This is my all day vape setup exactly and I'm quite happy with that performance. Your Efest 18650 2500 mAh is actually a 20A max battery. At 0.2 ohms you'll be drawing 21 amps, so I would not recommend you go lower than 0.3 ohms to give you some leeway if your meter is out a bit. A 30A battery will allow you to go down to 0.2 ohms and that will take the power up to 88 watts.
I don't know how experienced you are with RDAs, but you should be getting a lot of vapor from the 0.3 ohm setup if it's done right. If you want to, post a couple of clear pictures of your RDA setup and maybe we can help you optimize the build.
