Quasi, he said he had good soldering skills so your links were a great option!

Even if someone has a mod design that would work I have pretty good soldering skills (6yrs air force electronics tech) would appreciate any ideas. Thank you

I just happened to be able to find one for him to buy that people said worked with the Evo, so now he has lots of options. If (when) it breaks, he'll be able to use your links to fix it too.

Haha, that's true, thanks Hellen.

Since Vince is new at this, I think we should mention that the PT you linked is the "direct" type. That means it does NOT have an in-line battery on the cord. It operates at whatever voltage and amperage as the power supply you plug it into. Your laptop's USB port likely puts out 5V @ something like 500 mA. That isn't enough amps to power an atomizer properly. They sell 5V 2A power adapters, or "wall warts", that work a lot better for that type of PT. They also make those for your car's cigarette lighter. I've read that a *powered* USB hub will also work. You can plug the hub or wall-wart into an extension cord so you don't have to vape on the floor under your desk. :D

The "indirect" type of PT has a battery box between the switch/atty connector thingy. It is powered by that battery, and the battery is recharged via USB. This type only needs about 500 mA to recharge the battery, so a regular USB port will work.

The M401's are a bit unique. The batts when fully charged are only at about 3.1V, unloaded. The standard chintzy M401 PT operates at about 3.4V, it works fine in a computer port and the hit is noticeably hotter and a bit harsher. That's about as high a voltage as you want to go with the M401 atty. Much higher and they don't hold up and you lose the taste advantage that many M401 users like.
