I have a pass through for the 510, and it has a battery that fits into it. Looks like a AAA, comes in a self contained box. Anyways, can i just leave this battery (AAA) in there all the time?

You'd probably have to post the model of the pass through. Contacting the mfr may be your best bet though.
I doubt that is an AAA battery. It is probably a 10440 3.7v battery.
If it is the size of an AA battery it would be a 14500 3.7v battery.
I assure you, you can not vape on a 1.5v AAA battery.
With that style of a PT, normally the PT works as a charger, and the battery has to be in it to use it.

Yes you can leave it in, it is there so if you unplug you can still vape for a little while. Be sure to check the contact points to make sure no corrosion develops. It is 10440 360 mAh.
