Mines a 5v. Kinda wish it was 3.7v. But if I don't hit it as hard and switch cartridges it doesn't get hotter then i like it.
Any passthrough without an inline battery will deliver the full 5volts from the USB source.
Yup. It's straight from the USB plug to the atty connector. If you fed 110v straight into the USB plug, you'd probably launch your atty across the city.

just measured my bestecig stuff: fully charged no-load battery: 3.8v, passthrough connected to a 5.2v 1500mA supply reading 4.0V.
Thinking idly about modding the passthrough with a manual switch and some quality wire but laziness isn't helping any.....

Those with an in-line are designed to work WITH the battery. Made to unplug, and have the battery run your atomizer should you need to leave your computer (dumb design).
If you want it to run at 5v, without a battery, you have to mod it with a jumper. Someone had info. in a thread about that a while ago.

Ohhh - We're on the same track, but in two different train cars.
A straight through passthrough does not have the battery box or battery. The wire is direct from the USB plug to the atty.
A passthrough WITH a battery box will need the battery to work.
I had one PT with the battery & box, and had trouble with it. I cut the wires at the box and removed it. Re-connected the wires without the battery box. Now it gives me full input power.
And running straight through without the battery box, what you put into it, you'll get out at the other end.
