Spotted Pony: It does seem a little over the top at first to be plugged in....but, I brought my passthrough with me to work, and I can sit here using it all day and not have to go through the usual 2-3
batteries I normally would.
That saves me from having to keep charging my PCC constantly to keep recharging my
batteries, and I'm hoping will extend the 'life' of all the batteries (life being from the first use till the battery dies, not actual usage time of course) and save me some money in the long run
as for the original question: I never did understand why we can't just bypass the battery and vape at 5v either. Hadn't considered the amps vs. the volts like Drew mentioned...but then, I'm pretty new to this stuff, and not much of an electrician
