Passthru Direct To Switch?

Hi,

I have been considering a mod, and it has a usb passthru option for it that it claims goes direct to switch. Supposedly this is safe to put into a computer usb, but doing the math for direct power requirements for an LR atty causes me to question that. There were a few other devices I was going to use to test if they could handle the draw. I'm curious what you think.

Option 1 appears to have a higher output per usb port (see user reviews) at 2A max.

Option 2, is questionable if it would handle the draw directly as the usb port delivers 1000 mah, just twice what an ego charger does. My logic could be flawed but without asking I don't learn. What are your thoughts?

I bought one of those dual port gadgets on ebay thinking it was 2 amps. That's how it was advertised. Actually each port is 1 amp. I was afraid to use it with a 5v PT. Still sealed in package. eBay seller wouldn't let me return

You may want to ask the veterans. They're crazy-smart. I wouldn't plug a PT into a computer port especially if you're vaping with a LR atty or carto. Mega strain.

Get a USB to AC that outputs 5v and at least 2amps (aka 2000amps)

I have Rosewill RUC6181 2amp 4port USB to AC - when not being used with a PT it can be used to charge batteries with 4 assorted battery cables. I buy them at NewEgg.com. I would not use a PT and charge batteries on one at the same time

I'm afraid to plug PT into PC; wall wart for me..
Make sure switch has a safety to avoid getting stuck in on position and over heating.

Are you sure that each port is only 1 amp. I've seen dual ports that split the amps but will provide 2 amps if only 1 device is plugged in. I know it defeats the purpose of having 2 ports but at least you could use it if using only 1 port give you 2 amps.

a standard usb port only puts out half an amp, i made my own PT with my old indulgence(pos btw thats why its just a PT now) and havent had any issues with it. It does better than a 3.7 but with the lower current its not hitting like a true 5v. Oh and no issues with my computer(s (have used on my pc and laptop and a friends laptop)).

btw its directly wired to the switch like the one you mentioned.

EDIT: so if you want true 5v experience then get the 2 amp wall wart. I only use it with my computers when i dont have any batteries charged at the moment.

This. The USB standard specifies 500ma should be available at the port - although your USB port may supply 1000ma that's pretty much out of spec for a computer USB port and it'd certainly make me nervous. I'd prefer the smoke come from my PV and not my motherboard
