Hi there,
I ordered a passthru to use with my Joye510 which was nearly DOA (lasted 4 days). Suppliers are wonderful -- sent a replacement right away. This one works, but it gives a cold vape. I seem to get enough vapor, but it's just stone cold. I don't think it's the battery going dead because I've had this replaced passthru for only about a couple of weeks. I always unplug it when I leave the house or before I retire for the evening. The only thing I do differently than intended is use an iPod USB/AC adapter, as I will not use my computer port for it. Has anyone ever had this same kind of problem? Or does anyone know what the problem could be? I just don't like the sucking through a straw sensation I'm getting from it. Am I expecting too much from it maybe? Please and thank you.

I'd like to know about this one too. Anyone? Is it from a weak atomizer? The vapor is just like sucking cold air through a straw. Seriously, take an empty cartridge not attatched to anything and draw through it. That is exactly what mine feels and tastes like until I inhale. Is that normal?

Passthrough, battery, whatever, all the same.

Many of the 510 passthroughs use tiny little wires from the battery case to the PV. Think of it as a small pipe, when what you really want is a large pipe.

You atomizer needs a larger amount of electricity than the tiny wires can deliver, so it doesn't get as hot as when connected to a standard battery.

I originally thought a passthrough was going to be what I wanted. They now sit in a box.

Thanks, SJohnson. Yeah, I might as well be sucking on this pencil on my desk. I wonder if there are better passthrus to be purchased? i actually didn't want to invest a lot in this, because i want to stop even vaping. i want to eventually just inhale nothing but common, ordinary polluted oxygen into my lungs. but my juice stash says otherwise LOL. Thanks for your reply and explanation.

Don't try to run a 5v off your PC's usb. It won't work. You'll need a good Wall > USB adapter that puts out at least 1000ma? Also be prepared to fry attys faster with 5v.

I never run any usb's through my usb port. i use my ipod adapter and run it down to my surge protector. I'm too fearful of getting my port all jacked up if the battery blows. so you think i could fry an atty? hmmm, this vaping is getting more and more a pita. juice in my mouth, a sore tongue, oily roof of the mouth, juice on my hands when i refill, contiuous charging and refilling and ordering. but i admit i'm really truly grateful for the painless way of quitting smoking. these pitas are worth it. see, now i'm leaning more and more toward carlos49's juice box. a no brainer and no fuss and muss, plus no stocking up on anything except juice in case of an fda ban. and i'm in no hurry, so i don't mind the lonnnnnng waiting list.

Hi there neighbor,
No, I haven't tried the cartos yet. I saw the 80-cent special running on the cartos from eastmall. sheesh, i read the whole thread it was so hilarious. see sanfordj, the only thing is, i don't know too much about them, and i really didn't like the prefilled ones i got from cignot -- bluck. can you get them in flavors? BTW, i like your new avatar. I liked your old one too, but this one has really some good energy to it. Do you use cartos, and can I put them on a Joye510?

I have a manual 808 passthru from Vapor4Life and it definitely isn't a "cold vape." Keep in mind, however, that vapor is not smoke--vapor has a natural cooling effect because it is evaporating and absorbing moisture from the air, whereas smoke is burnt particles and other chemicals that stay warm. Try taking a drag off a cigarette and blowing it on your arm, then take a vape and do the same, you will notice that the vapor is colder than your breath, and the smoke is the same temperature or warmer. You'll also notice that vapor doesn't really seem to rise in the air, but stay at one level or even sink downward. Smoke rises because it is hotter.

I just took a draw on my pass-through using a 510 cartomizer, and the vapor was warm. Then I plugged it into the USB port on my PC and it was, uh, cool.
I think your adapter isn't providing enough oomph in terms of amperage to the atty. When I first purchased the pass-through, I picked up a Dynex iPod charger at Best Buy. The thing outputs 500 mAh - not enough for a satisfying vape. The PT is now hooked up to a 2000 mAh charger that gives that warm vapor.
Can you check and see what the adapter/charger's output is?

Yes, you can get 510 cartomizers in flavors (although I prefer not to) and they will work on your 510.

I recently decided to try cartomizers (for the first time) from NHaler (http://shop.nhaler.com/product.sc?productId=126&categoryId=5). They run a little cooler (3.2-3.4 ohms) than stock Joye atomizers which run at 2.3 ohms. These are the empty ones that I fill with my own juice potions. I prefer having the cost savings and control of the flavors that I can get mixing or modifying my own juices since it really is hit or miss on what other people sell. These particular cartos hold about 35-40 drops, so they last a lot longer than the stock cartridges and are well built and easy to fill. I have a Tornado, from the devil headed company, and several 510s and 2 510 PTs that these cartomizers work well on. I don't know, yet, how long they'll last since I have only been using them for 2 days.

Thank you for the compliments on the avatars. The current one is from a musical group I had an interest in during the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Not so much these days, but I did then.
