The PT you have is a 3.7V and the inline battery is just a back-up. It allows you to use it for a short time while it isn't plug into a USB port.

There are PT's that don't use the inline battery. Those are 5V PT's, but you should only use those with a 2Amp wall adapter. Plugging it into your computer could cause the battery or your computer to fail. You can find these at many different online vendors including madvapes and CigNot.

Hey johnny,
WomanOfHeart is exactly right.

A 3.7v PT is great when sitting at the computer, but a 5v PT is awesome.
Once you start using a 5v PT, it'll be hard to go back to 3.7v vaping.
Again, to repeat WOH, get a wall adapter that converts household AC current to 5v with a minimum of 2 amps. Plugging a 5v PT into your computer's USB port is a very bad idea. Good chance it could fry your motherboard.

Find 5v PT's at the following vendors and many others:
USB Passthroughs
Miscellaneous
Vapor King Accessories

There's only been one (maybe two) documented cases of a PT frying a motherboard. So, I wouldn't say there's a "Good chance". But, the consequences are too high to take the chance when the risk is so easily avoided.

My first PTs came with an inline battery. They provide much the same vaping experience as using a standard battery. After that I bought only the 5V PTs. Much better. :)
