Patents... I have an idea, one that I don't see discussed yet. It's more or less a battery mod/ usability type of thing. The question I have is: has anyone researched or applied for a patent on an e-cig device and is it worth it?

1) Patents are, by nature, publishing an idea. So, I would have to have production ready before the patent, or risk being out produced.

2) They're expensive and require expertise to execute well.

Anyone have :2c: on this?

Hey AttyPops, I tried that route once, they wanted every single detail, of where, why & how I did what I did. Once that was done they had to do a patent search, alot of time, money, more time, frustration and well in the end I gave up.

I think the money is in presenting to someone who has the ability to produce, research and pay for your idea. Sell your idea to them, eventually if you are fortunate enough to do this on your own, you will have to disclose everything and when the patent is up or not re-newed the secret is up for grabs.

Think about what you have, who could best produce and market this item, would there be a true market for it.

Best of luck to you, keep us posted on your progress!
