Speaking as a very cautious online buyer, any alternative to Paypal would be appreciated. Until I got interested in vaping, I never considered a paypal account. Most of what i bought online was thru Amazon or some other major Store or places that have brick & motar locations. I actually got an email once trying to phish my paypal info - when I never had an account with them!

My first purchase was from a vendor that does accept credit cards directly... Only after reading reviews here of other sites, do I consider buying from them. I would much rather have a line on my bank statement that said "Payment to Vapor********" than "PREAUTHORIZED PAYPAL INST XFER". BTW, Amazon does have PV vendors that sell thru them.:D Most seem to be a ripoff, but at least they are spreading the word. Their review system will make you or break you eventually.

Well most should know you never need a paypal account to place an order with a vendor who uses paypal. Paypal will process your credit card without you ever being a member of their services.

Maybe. From what has been said in the thread linked by Kate, there seems to be a limit either on transactions or lifetime $ amount (unclear which or if both). CREDIT card does not apply to me - I only use a debit card. They let me use it once before insisting I register and give bank info. I'm sure there are many others who choose not to use a credit card. Its just another bill to pay each month, adds to your expenses if you don't pay it off each month, leaves you open for major fraud if card or # stolen AND provides major temptation to spend more than you have! :D I do have one, no fees, low interest and hidden away for an emergency.
I do understand why they insisted on registration, etc. Fees to transfer funds from account are much less that processing debit or credit cards. I've had no problems (yet) that were not instantly resolved. BUT, I would rather see who I paid on my bank statement than simply that I paid Paypal.:-x

As long as the person you purchased from filled that section out, it should actually say who you ordered from. For Example, people who purchase from me...it should show 'AltSmoke' or 'AltSmoke LLC' on their statements.

At leasts that's what I assume since I filled out that section lol.

And in case you were wondering...

The reason I came up with the 20-30% is that I used to be as seller (Not e-cigarette related) and have a website that accepted credit cards and not Paypal. I also sold on Ebay. Around 40% of my business came through the website and the orders were generally larger on the website. I also found the chargeback ration was 3-5 times higher on Paypal. I was shipping around 100 orders a day.
Do you know that in the 4 years I had the website I never had a client write me and say they didn't place an order because I didn't have Paypal.

By the way if you have a problem with Paypal they don't only ban you from using the account but they also don't let you use the credit card independently of your account.
IE your card won't go through reguardless of whether you sign into Paypal or not.

Vaporstation temporarily has had there account suspended by Paypal and since they only take Paypal they are out of business until they get a CC processor or Paypal reinstates them.

I really suggest strongly that all merchants accept CC through a processor besides Paypal. 1 - 3 weeks without revenue while struggling to open a Merchant account or fix the Paypal problem is brutal.

Wow guys this sucks. I think its time to start developing either a new form of payment or we need to re name these things entirely. Like what some pharmaceutical companies do. Completely diminish the whole CIGARETTE thing and come out with something totally new and un-related. I'm sure we could even re-name the juice.

I mean, its not like paypal knows what you are sending your customers. You could tell them you were sending pink fuzzy slippers and they'd never know the difference. There has to be ways around this stuff...

I'm really sorry to hear that you are down. I used to run a small business and understand how devastating it is to be shut down.
May I ask a quick question. You are the second in the past week that have been shut down.
Do you think that it's an internal snafu or do you think that they are targeting the E-Cig Industry.?

Could be both. Theres tons of members here, doesn't mean that one of them can't be a malicious troll out to destroy us.

But I mean its no different then this store here in town that sells glass bongs... that aren't glass bongs... they are long stemmed flower pots (that just happen to have the proper holes in them to function AS a .......) and the actually get away with it. (Though they have to have signs all over the store about this being 100% not about illegal stuff here)

Hell, market them as mini suction glow sticks. I don't know

Seems Paypal told them they have banned the E-Cig Industry.
To those who don't have merchant accounts you better get one soon!
    Excerpt from there post.
"Some of you have also noticed that PayPal is no longer a payment option on our site. Thursday morning we were told by PayPal that the company would not be processing future transactions relating to the e-cigarette industry – in our case that includes credit card and debit cards not tied to PayPal accounts. Though we were disappointed to see PayPal ignore our long and successful relationship, we were able to make the transition to a new processor with barely a hiccup.
Before dawn Friday, a new card processor we’d been working with very closely was integrated into our site. Though we understand many customers enjoy the conveniences of PayPal, we can assure you that our payment process is safe and secure – It uses 128-bit SSL encryption (the highest commercially available) and adheres to PCI (Payment Card Industry) Security Standards to keep your data safe."
