P.S I am also going to experiment with wrapping a 3mm coil and re- wicking a four length in a Kanger dual coil unit.
Same here. I don't have leakage anymore but I'm still having trouble finding the right amount. I also often cut the wick too short and get dry hits. I ordered some KGD - backordered, should be available in 4 days. Hope it makes it easier !
Cut your KGD to just about twice as wide of the inside diameter of your coil and roll it....
P.S, If you are rebuilding your Kayfun, fold the wick upward and put the chimney barrel back on after threading the wick through the coil and trim the wick to just a wee bit above the barrel. Perfect wick length every time!![]()
I'm interested in trying that Ken Do whatever it's called cotton. Been using organic cotton balls. They work fine but I'm still experimenting with the right ratio for the wick. I keep having leakage.
Been tempted to mail Megan a couple coil heads and have her work her magic on them and then tear them down and examine her work to duplicate it. LOL
O.K We all know that you are the Queen of the Kanger coil rebuild and as stated you didn't care for the Peaches And Crème.
Let me see if I can help you change your mind a bit. We all know that wick burning is usually caused by too thick of a wick through the coils and to little will cause juice pass through on the Kangers. So. because I love to tinker, lets give it a whirl. You already know how to set the coils so no need to go there.
I have been using this since this afternoon with nothing but very clean flavor and no burn what so ever along with massive vapor production. Granted I am using a completely different set up but I used to rebuild the "K" coils for myself and still do for a friend that can't because of mild to severe arthritis and am going to do a handful of coils with this for him.The set up I am using for myself right now is an RDA with dual 3mm coils and four lengths of P&C threaded through each coil. For the "K" coils I am going to use two.
I build in mm so 1/16 = 1.59 mm and 1/32= 1.98 mm inside diameter. Lets use 2mm as an example. I rolled a quick coil and then did a fold over loop and threaded it through the coil and felt it was too tight so, I pulled one strand out of the length, folded it again and it was perfect. For a 1.5, I would imagine I would need to remove one more. I used an left over piece of wire to form the needle.
This picture is for you. Give it another shot and if you still do not care for it, that's O.K too......

I've been using the P&C for a while now and I really like it. I do microcoils, don't know what diameter they are as they are wrapped on a tattoo needle, Some twisted 28g, some twisted 30g and some just plain 30 g micro. I find it a lot easier for me to get the right amount and fewer dry hits. I use either two or three strands depending on what fits easily through the coil. I never could get the cotton consistent and there was always the cotton taste at first.
I don't use anything but drippers and RM2 and have never tried building a Protank coil, I can see how they might be a bit more tricky to wick though.
Right on Flavored. This is all good stuff. Being an engineer by trade, Its my second nature to solve issues and make things work. I am passionate about everything I do and enjoy the sharing of knowledge and like to train, teach, pass on and share my experience as well and am always open to the reception of the new input.
The goal here is to help the family or for that matter, anyone enjoy that juice to their fullest potential.
I suffered with the stock coil heads when I first got started as most all of us do to the point where I almost gave up because of their inconsistencies. Sure there a good ones and bad ones but ultimately while they were O.K at first, they would rapidly would go down hill from there. I came to despise the burnt flavor of silica and IMHO silica sucks.
Had my experience with Echowool as well and it can be great too but when it burns it is just flat out way too nasty for me.
The reviews I have read on Cellucotton have me intrigued and as mentioned, is my next move, However I do have a few concerns as it is also man made. But if it turns out that it is the end all be all, I will more than likely toss those concerns aside.
Granted that wick burning when vaping is the single most unpleasant thing for most all of us but for me, if its going to burn, I'd rather suck in something from mother earth then something that was developed in a lab.
There is always something new to learn and by us sharing our experiences hopefully we can all get everyone on the road to get the most enjoyment out of the juice.
It is just tightly bound particles of paper really, it's cellulose so a lot more natural than silica or eco wool. I described a dry hit like this:
(On a Dibi or REO when squonking needs to be done before the coil runs dry and you burn your wick)
Cellucotton: *vapevapevapevape* hmmm...the flavor is gone better squonk..."
regular cotton: *vapevapevapevape* "OMG!!!!! YUCKYUCKYUCK....DRY WICK *coughcough* BURNED!!!! MY LUNGS OMFG MY SINUSES AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!"

So is Rayon the same as Cellucotton?
Any one in the family using it? A great lady on my crew brought me a skein of it that she picked up form Wally world and I have to say, I'm impressed. Very sweet of her to pick it up for me and a grand little surprise. I thanked her and I told it would reflect on her evaluation.
No Walmart's in San Francisco. The closest is 28 miles away.
