Just got my Fat Penelope from Kir Fanis, and it is really spectacular! Makes Penny look like an Ody. Here are a couple of family shots of my trio of Penelopes, each wearing a different Kir Fanis dress ...

I like that fatty. It makes the setup more streamlined. Is it exactly like the original Penny only fatter. I mean do you setup the wick and coil the same?
Yes, nothing changes about the setup of the Penny ... the "Fat" Penelope tank comes with its own tank section top cap (onto which the original Penelope mouthpiece cap & O-ring screws), and a special large base into which the original Penelope base seats. The Penny's original ceramic and ceramic housing are used just as before. There are two O-rings that go above and below the ceramic housing ring; these are to raise the Penelope's mouthpiece so it extends out of the top cap the same distance as with the regular tank. Essentially, the Kir Fanis tank simply replaces the steel Penelope tank; everything else is the same and works the same ... except the Penelope now looks like a full Odysseus with a clear tank. As you can see, it looks right at home on my SS Vamo ... now, if I could only find a GGTS that I wouldn't have to sell my first-born to buy!

It's actually a very good add on. Brilliant stuff. Very well made and fits the pen nearly perfectly. I do have to ask Kir..
What is that bronze metal plate for? it came with the package. I am totally lost as to what it's for. Plus the 2 O rings.. where do they go?

As mentioned in Post #332, the two O-rings go above and below the knurled ceramic housing lock ring. The metal plate is a "slot key" that can be used to tighten the ceramic housing in the base. In Kir's forum on VW, there is a series of assembly pictures which should be helpful; a similar series appears on the gr-modders website where you order the tanks.

I was just looking on GR-Modders website and they want 3400 euros for the fat penny. That comes out to over $4000. That can't be right. How much did you pay for yours and did you get it directly from Kir?
That would make more sense but it says 34,00 euros. I guess the comma should have been a period unless they do things different in Greece.
LOL ... you're missing the decimal point, which on European websites is a comma. The Fat Penelope costs 34€, which is approximately $45.75 US ... my total, with shipping from Greece, was $47.06.
