Premade wires have the NR wire on both ends and R wire in the middle. It does'nt matter which NR goes on what side. Cut the wire off on the side with the metal channel and put it under the wick and it'll be held in place when you screw the nut on. the positive wire gets wrapped around the firing pin between the nut and the ridged part, that's all.

I been getting a burnt taste on it. This is my first time using silica wicks. It taste like a ot spot on an ss wick. I heard that silica wicks+ coils dont get hot spots but its the wick that is the issue? I cant figure this out and cant get rid of this burnt harsh taste. The wicks and coils are premade.

Are you turning the mouthpiece to get more juice? Silly question, but you never know. I usually prime the coil to start with and start vaping with the juice control closed. When I sense i need more juice on the coil I open it up one full turn, and I can usually leave it like that. i'm nornally using 70pg/30vg juice.

You can just tell when there's not enough juice, it does'nt taste right, if you have'nt had it working well yet it might be hard to tell until you've used it for a while. What size wick are you using? I use 3mm and it works very well, if your using 3.5mm maybe it's squeezed to much in the slots and not allowing proper wicking. You could try removing a string or two from the wick. Also make sure none of your resistance wire is outside of the ceramic cup.

Im using a 3mm wick. There are times where it hits amazingly with tons of flavor. But sometimes i get a harsh hit. Im using a premade wick so i dont know much about it. I only built genny style wicks and coils but never a silica one before. Im going to have to attempt to make one just so i know. The harsh hits are 1 out of 20 or so hits?

and for some reason i like it when a lot of fluid come in and it gurggles a little. I dont like how it sounds normally but i get a huge hit in flavor and vapor. Over all i love the penelope. Been using it for 1 1/2 days. Just every once in awhile i get a harsh hit which i think i can fix wheni build my own coil.

I use cotton wick on my Penelope. Nothing special...just an unwrapped cotton ball, made out of 100% pure cotton. I use only a little bit of the cotton and cut it down to size. Some ppl boil the cotton to sanitize it.

And the cotton is super absorbent. I only need the juice control unscrewed just a fraction to let the juice in. It works great on the Penelope since it's a bottom fed tank. Just make sure if you use cotton to put juice on it first before you test it. Unlike silica, the cotton will burn with a dry coil. And cotton will only last a week or two, before you need to replace it. I usually replace the cotton and use the same wire from my previous set up. And since cotton is so absorbent, I close the juice control when I'm not planning on using my Ecig for awhile. If I leave the juice control open for too long while not in use, I find that the cotton is too moist, almost flooded.

The Penelope has a learning curve to set up. Along with putting NR and R wires together. I've mastered this setup and can get a new set up in about five minutes...taking it apart etc.

You'll eventually have to learn how to put together NR wire and R wire. Buying pre-made wires is more expensive. Also I only use NR wire on one side of the Penelope. The side channel with the ceramic channel that goes to the locking nut on the bottom. The other side, I just let the R wire touch the metal side of the channel underneath the wick...just a little bit though.

The premade i use:
Rebuildable Atomizer Coils - Avid Vaper
Its tightly wrapped with no spaces between.
I still am getting harsh hits and i have to just stop using it. I'll definitely look into the cotton its seems cheap and i'm planning to learn how to build them as soon as i go through the 5 pack of pre mades.

The first hit i take is very good, then it slowly declines and by the 4 hit, its harsh and gross. It does sound like a wicking issue since it gets better when it sits for a little. which im thinking its soaking. This is so frustrating.
