We had a Penelope stuck in a Kir Fanis Clear tank a while ago, now I managed to enter level 2 of the "Penelope Stuck in..." game.
I bought a Kir Fanis Fat Upgrade for one of my Penelopes and wanted to build it back but the Penelope base is stuck in the extension ring. The extension ring is screwed onto the Penelope base instead of the tank section so it has the same threads and direction for loosening or tightening. I guess it tightend more and more by screwing it onto my PVs...

Currently it is resting in the fridge but the main problem is that there is no real point to apply torque. The only point where I can grab the Penelope base is the 510 adapter thread but I am afraid to damage the threads or even the whole adapter if I use pliers there. Of course I would use some protection but its only a tiny piece of metal...

So anyone having a good idea? :)

Is the fridge usefull here? I just thought that both parts will shrink together leving me in the same mess as before...
The best thing I came up so far is to put an electricians screwdriver (one that has a rubber isolation) into the 510 adapter to protect it from possible deformation, apply a thick rubber to the threads on the adapter and use my pliers.
I am not very happy when I think about doing this to my little Penelope...

At least I found a better way to get a grip on her. I screw the Penelope base onto a GGTS Connector, almost to the end but so that I can see both airholes of the base. Then I take a paperclip and put it through. So I can lock the Penelopebase on the GGTS Connector.
The bad thing is that neither Chuck Norris nor Ralf Moeller are avaiable currently...

If you take out the ceramic holder so there is no center post in the 510 connection, then you can stick an opened-up paper clip through the two air holes in the 510 connection on the bottom. This forms a "T-wrench" handle at the bottom, which you can easily grip to unscrew the tank base from the Penny base. No pain, no strain. BTW, from your picture, it doesn't look like the Penelope base is perfectly flat with the tank base, which it must be. This same little paper clip "wrench" will also assist with that ...

Yeah thanks,

I tried to use a sewing needle as an lever first but it broke soon - the Penelope was really sticking hard into the Extension ring...
But then used a paperclip, which is more flexible. I used a GGTS connector, screwed Penelope onto itm put the paperclip throup Penelopes airholes and wrapped the extend around the base in order to lock the connection. The I locked the GGTS Connector into a bench vise and tried to screw it off using rubber gloves) but failed.
To make it short, I think I tried both sides in the vise and already gave up mentally but I think that I unlocked it by putting the Penelope Side into the vise and applying power to fixate it. I left that for a while in order to regain some power in my hand. Meanwhile my wife always said "Ah, that is the broken thing?" and I said "No, its not broken, its just stuck" for a few times. I was a bit of angry and tried it a final time. This time it make click and got free - I call it subtile art of motivation...

The paperclip inside wrapped itself around the Penelope Base which was another problem I came up with but that was quite easy to get it out and the threads are fine - no damage... :)

So yeah, your tips helped a lot but it was really a hard job - I hope this will be usefull to someone else.
Thanks a lot!
