I've read from the DIY forum that mixing your own juices greatly reduces your vaping costs.

There is a small package I think someone referenced, the "Mini PCC Kit"... is the battery it comes with a 'standard' sized on? If I were to get that kit to start with would I be able to purchase the standard manual or automatic batteries and have compatibility or are there multiple sizes of batteries (aside from the long, which I already know is different)?

Welcome Teibidh! Congratulations on your willingness to quit analogs! It is a very difficult habit to break! I have to agree with a lot of the advice that you are getting here. A lot is mindset. My head wants to quit, my heart does not, so I'm still on analogs. I smoke merit ultra lights. I found that 24 mg tobacco is good on a battery and 18 is all I need on a passthrough. I think 36 would be way too much. Since $$ is always an issue, I agree with starting small. You need to get used to the change in the chemicals. You might love it right away as some do, or it may take you a while to adjust. If you are at the computer a lot then you may want to replace your analogs with a passthrough e-cig while you are on the computer. Once you break that habit, start replacing your 2nd analog of the day, and so on. I find that the parlaments are a nice togacco flavor, but you might like the kants or kamels. When you order there will be a comments box. Ask if you can get a few of the tobacco flavors.

Approximately how long, in terms of replacing habit and nicfit smoking, will a single cartolizer full of juice last? Will I make it through the day if I just take a couple of puffs every hour or so? Do I need to carry two extra carts with me to work?

I think this depends on if you can actually take just a few puffs at a time. I always carry extra carts because I like to change out the flavors. I have one batt with kant or kamel and the other has parlament. My passthrough has a flavor cart usually vanilla or p'nut btr cup. I like the flavors but I'm still at the "I need tobacco stage."

Finally, when you pick a cartolizer strength I had initially assumed that this was the nicotine concentration in the liquid inside the carto, but if that's true, how do the refill liquids work? Are they all the same strength, or is the nicotine rating for each carto based on something like filter density?[/quote]

The mg strength is listed on the bottle: high, med or low. You will probably want med.

HTH!

the cartomizers fit all of the batteries so don't worry about the size.

As of right now, they only have two types of batteries in two different lengths. They are all interchangable, and can be charged by the PCC, but you can't close the cover of the PCC when charging the long batteries (too long, obviously.) They said they will be getting in mini auto batteries soon, which will be smaller than the normal length batts by about an inch. As of yet, I am unsure if they will be getting in PCC's that will be able to fit the long batts also, but it would be nice for those of us who LOVE the long batts!

Order placed. Went with the kit without the PCC, I have an always on outlet in my car, so charging at work isn't an issue. Hopefully they don't mind swapping out the wall charger for the car adapter, but if that's an issue I"ll just pick that up separate. Have tons of computers at home and work, so, USB charging for me for now. Asked for an assortment of flavors to start with and picked up a package of Cowboys just so I had something 'cigarette' flavored.

Thank you all for the feedback and input, I hated buying with unanswered questions, and you fixed that for me. Wish me luck!

An exact count of how many puffs you get per cartomizer and per each battery type is on my to do list, but a cartomizer is roughly equal to 1/2 to 2/3rds of a pack, and I go through roughly 2 regular batteries per cartomizer.

The nicotine strength is mgs per ml, and a cartomizer holds about .8ml currently. We're trying to push that up to 1ml, but I can't get that to work in my home experimentation, so far anyway. ;)

Have you tried my trick and spinning it, seems to hold much more juice that way.

Spinning it? I rotate the cart when I'm drip-refilling it, for my own use, if that's what you mean. But for this experiment I was using a measured pipette, and just kinda gushed it in, since that's most likely how they fill them at the factory.

I really doubt they take the time to rotate them as they fill them on the assembly line, or that it would be possible to arrange for them to do so. It would take too long, and slow the process down too much. But I could be wrong, that's another of those things I won't know until I can get there.

Here is a link to the thread I was talking about http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/vapor4life/47584-my-refilling-trick.html Now I'm pretty positive they don't hand spin them in China on the assembly line but if they are automated they very well might use robotic filling and a centrifuge or even vibrations to settle the juice. I've worked in plants who used similar technology. Let us know when you find out!

Well, I'll definitely add that to my refilling experiments. Thanks for the tip! :thumb:

I still think the big trick is no trick at all, it's time. How long do you suppose it has been since the cart was filled at the factory before you used it?

I drip several at a time and never use one that hasn't sat (standing up, battery side down) for days. I seem to be getting fantastic results even if it initially appeared that I may have over filled a little.

I have tried drip then vape and that works too but I get more liquid in when I give it a chance to sit, (age).

Well, not to cast doubt on your method, but as someone who just left a job at UPS, what in the world makes you think those carts were sitting nicely upright, battery side down, the whole way from the factory to the retailer, let alone all the way from there to you? They're just as likely to have been upside down, or on their sides, and most likely have gone from one to another during their trip. And maybe kicked a few times, to boot!

I think you're dead on about TIME being the key factor, though. :thumb: I just don't think it matters which way you stand them, or even if you stand them up at all. ;) ANd I know the shippers didn't keep them that way.

I agree with the right/wrong end up but the way the carts are designed it seemed to make more sense after dripping. Especially if I wanted to maximize the juice and so far none in my mouth.

We'll all stick with what works :D:D:D for us.

Yep. Vaping is a very personal and individual thing, more so than cigarettes. We all have our own different ways. [Stuart Small voice] And that's... OK. [/Stuart Small voice] :thumb:
