The only coffee flavor I have tried so far was Lorann's Coffee (not keoke). No matter what concentration I try, it will not vape! I have a bottle that I mixed yesterday at 5%, and it doesn't even vape at all. Every other flavor I have tried has at least vaped, but it does not matter what I do, this coffee doesn't even vaporize. Anyone else had any issues like this with Lorann's Coffee?

I mentioned this in another thread, but I think it's odd that an influx of members have been getting cat pee taste from PA coffee flavors in the last few days. I wonder if their coffee base went bad or something.

Has anyone else had any PA coffees that arrived within the last week or so that taste like urine? And can anyone that has ordered this stuff in the past comment on whether or not it smelled or tasted like urine?

I have ordered the coffee not to long ago.
Does not smell like urine. If it taste like urine? No clue, have not tried urine yet hihi. jk
I mixed it with Bavarian cream and cotton candy as well made a mix with cappucino. Was ok, did not throw me off the couch.
I am a NooB though and just started the mad mixing thing so take my opinion with a few grains of salt.

Mine (PA Coffee) smells so bad in the bottle that I haven't dared to mix with it yet...I might try 1% like Shantia suggested and post back later ..but not today (heading to work).

I found it was very perfumy and stunk. It had no resemblance to coffee at all. I made it, vape it and threw it away. I am hoping this was a bad batch otherwise there will be alot of disappointed heavers out there,

coffee extra clear needs to be used in extremely low doses. 1% is MORE then enough for mixes. I enjoy this flavor and think it tastes like strong black coffee to a T. The reason most people gave it a bad review IMO is because they mixed it at 10% which is the typical suggested starting point from most people when testing out a flavor.

Give it another try at 1%, you might change your mind.

I would love to try a good coffee flavor, But.. what type of black coffee are we talking here? Straight black, no creme and sugar?

If so, and I wanted it a lil sweeter, say to taste like black coffee with sugar, then what do I do?

I love Espresso. ( with a lil sugar) what should I order for this?

Mind you, I want them to taste exactly like if I drank some.

I also want a coffee and chickory flavor.. being from New Orleans I gotta have my chickory.. any thoughts?

Lastly, what do you think of caffeine additives they sell for e-cig flavors? Is it worth getting some?

Just gave it another try, at an even weaker dose than you recommended. I put one drop of flavoring (approx 0.05ml) into 25ml of unflavored nicotine. I worked it out to be at approximately 0.1% flavoring. I vaped it on a cleaned out 510 atty on an Ego battery.

It still has no hint of coffee at all, it's just a weaker version of the urine taste that I got from 8%. I assume this must be a bad dose. I'm going to send Perfumers Apprentice an email and ask if they have heard of this problem before.

Just got TPA Mocha in today along with several other flavors, and immediately I recognized the scent as a cross between β-mercaptoethanol, a pungent and noxious sulfur-containing chemical I sometimes have to use at work, and skunk spray, which also contains sulfur-containing compounds. As it turns out coffee contains sulfur-containing compounds (something I did not know until I had to look it up just now), so, apparently, in order to approximate the flavor of coffee, sulfur-containing compounds (FDA approved of course) are used. Knowing what it is, however, it is most certainly something you'd want to use at an absurdly low concentration as Shantia suggested earlier. Might I suggest even lower, like 0.01% to start. I think 0.1% would be on the high end and if you really want something strong enough to ward off bears and other potential attackers, then 1%.

Perfumers Apprentice said:
this is a very strong flavor, do not try to evaluate just by smell!!

Amen to that!

As TPA says, don't even attempt to smell it... to evaluate it or otherwise! Whatever molecules are in it stuck to the inside of my nostrils, and I continued to smell it long after I left the room, like my nose had been sprayed by a skunk! If you ever want to enjoy a cup of coffee again, let alone a coffee-flavored vape, that is the last smell you will ever want to remember.

Great post, that was really informative.

I got an email back from TPA, and they said that out of six people testing the flavor of the current batch, only one of them got the sensation we are describing. She said that we must be sensitive to that particular note, and that urine is one of the notes in a coffee flavor.

Your explanation makes far more sense though, flaklaflubilibu. I've had good coffee flavored premixed vapes, so I know they exist... I guess I just will be going elsewhere to find a nice coffee flavor.

Oh, this is terribly true. I have some PA Mocha sitting in my closet, it is the nastiest thing I've ever smelled. And I'm way too scared to even try to mix it at all. I thought maybe I was just crazy, but I guess not!

Thanks!

I seem to be hearing a lot of good things about Lorann's Keoke coffee flavor. I will have to give this flavor a try, which will introduce me to the world of Loranns.

Has anyone tried to create coffee flavor using the coffee infusion recipe? I'm trying it now and will know how it comes out tomorrow night.

Im working on the infusion now. I'm trying a couple brands, and a couple variations of each. So far all come out smelling about the same, and a bit skunky. I mixed up a couple bottles, and they come out pretty dry. They are black coffee, but have a certain edge to them. I am going to try to ad some malitol or whatever else to experiment with to give it a bold and robust flavor. Unfortuanately, that smell is just something fierce..not sure how to get THAT aspect worked out. I'm in search of that bold coffee, that smells and tastes like a fresh brewed pot...not there just yet.

I just ordered some of these infamous flavors from PA, so now I'm waiting for a very ...... off mailman to deliver it to me...maybe right through my living room window!

Really appreciated the chemical insight, Flaklaflubillibu!! I'm a chemist and I never knew that coffee has mercapto and urine notes! Coffee is a really tough one to get right, or even good even if it doesn't taste a lot like coffee.

Lorann Keoke was for a while considered the best coffee flavor. Not that it is especially good, just not as offensive as others. I find it ok, best mixed with other flavors. Still has a puke undertone to me, kinda sour and gastric.

I am currently really enjoying Capellas cappuccino! Think milk with a coffee background. I really like this one, and its almost like a caramel latte with Lorann caramel. It is not at all strong black coffee, however.

Capellas espresso is not bad either. Strangely, it is colorless. Also strangely, it is not strong. Both the espresso and cappuccino are, to me, quite nice at 10%.

capellas kahlua and cream is also very nice, not too strong, and fairly true to the coffee liquor. Others may want a much stronger flavor. I find mild flavors to be more pleasant for continued vaping, like with a carto. And the PG keeps me from going over 10%...more than that and my mouth starts getting scratchy.

The best coffee juice I have had from a vendor is Vaperite's Kona Cream. OMG it is so good! I know they make their own coffee flavor from actual coffee, but I don't know how they do it. Their non-tobacco flavors are 100% VG, even the flavoring.

Now I'm wondering if a coffee essence could be made. Perhaps like making a Turkish coffee but with a VG-water mixture, then really filter it. Would have to be decaf coffee, though. I like caffeine, but I don't want to vape it, as it would be very harsh and not taste good. It may well cake up and atty too.

How are you doing the infusion, Chief?

If you would like to DIY that Kona Coffee just get the flavoring from natures Flavors :) I have not read this entire thread so not sure if it was mentioned but the Caramel Cappuccino from Flavor Apprentice is STRONG! I mix it at 1.5% and it is in your face strong coffee flavor. I will post what the site says about it and it is totally true! Here it is:

Caramel Cappuccino Flavor

water soluble

***Warning: this flavor is STRONG! it is a nod to those customers who want really really strong flavors.
so please be forewarned. if you usually dilute to 20%, you might want to skip this one
(you will need to dilute this to 5% or less)

*** i am still getting comments from customers that this flavor is too strong.
Please! be forwarned! this flavor has a very intense black coffee note as well, and is going
to smell very very strong.

THIS FLAVOR IS DESIGNED FOR CUSTOMERS WHO WANT EXTREME CONCENTRATIONS

Ingredients: Natural & Artifical Flavors, Propylene Glycol

That one's part of this last big order to PA, salemgold, so it should be at my door any day now. Might be there waiting for me to get home right now! Thanks for the rec to use 1.5%...I might have just made it at the usual test-drive 10%, and gotten the wrong idea about it.

Not sure if the NF kona cream is the same as Vaperite's. I was told by someone that Todd makes his own coffee flavors, told by the person that supplies some of the coffees to Todd. Maybe NF is buying from Todd now, as when I went to NF's site after Todd told me about it at Vapefest, they didn't have a Kona Cream flavor. That was at the end of March. Regardless, that flavor is a real winner, but not an in-your-face coffee. More subtle and sweet, like these Capellas I just got.

If you are using NF flavors, you should be using what they call their "Coffee and Tea Flavoring System" flavors. I have been using some of their flavorings for about 8 months and they have always had the Kona Cream in that catagory. Nature's Flavors : Organic Flavoring Systems for Coffee & Tea

Their other flavor concentrates either have acacia gum or more alcohol in them compared with the Coffee and Tea Flavorings.
