I found this thread: Pet Peeves... and figures that it was funny to see how things have changed in two years, and see if our pet peeves today have stayed or not.

Actually, one of my pet peeves showed up today on one of my Facebook groups and just wanted to scream bad things.... and figured that we might as well have fun with it here instead.

Here goes...

For me, one of my big pet peeves are the people that get a very mediocre setup, pimped out when possible and act like they are "bad-..." because they had the money to spend on it...

So today is one person that got a RX200, a Beast V-12 with rta, and does a post about his "wicked setup, etc..." and posts a video showing how "bad" he is with his setup at 200W, his tacky t-shirt and baseball cap in his kitchen and blows a cloud.....

A cloud that I could outdo with my old aerotank or my wife's old nautilus (probably with an AIO if I had one).

People with crappy cars with stereo systems that play rap music too loud. So loud, they shake the body panels in a really annoying fashion. Why does this person think its ok to bother everyone within a quarter mile with his awful music?

Likewise here...
The genre of music doesn't matter. I've done concert sound, for jazz, blues, and hard rock bands. I've done studio mix down for hard rock, heavy metal, and country records. I've even done a few custom car audio systems myself (Autorama award winners)
LOUD isn't the issue for me. The buzzing, and rattling of the overmodulated bass always makes me cringe. It just CAN'T sound right.

In curious what you would think of a car driving by playing loud death metal music. I myself would actually enjoy that. Others may not.

Vape-wise: people who read one biased news article about how vaping is worse than smoking, and act all high and mighty around people who vape.
yup... between the "experts" that saw a movie, viewed a news story that showed a very agenda-minded angle, or a trash magazine article, I've had a LOT of their wise and in-depth knowledge about my cancer, my wife's MS and especially my daughter's autism.... according to these experts, all these things would be cured would I follow they advice...

So.. vaping pet peeve, I'm pretty understanding where concerns others vaping habits..

But the other day I was on the phone with my son, he is vaping at higher wattage than he's ever vaped before, pushing the limits if you will.. and he would take a drag, cough, then go wow, that was a good one!

I was like seriously son? You sound like your over there doing drugs, not vaping!

Lol..

Another of mine... youtube videos with people "showing" how they do things (builds, wicking, etc.) and I just twitch when they roll out 3 feet of wire and waste 90% of it, used full strand of cottons only to cut 90% of it (instead of simply using what's actually needed for both coils (or single)).. it's like if they don't center their 3 inch long wick, somehow those 1/2 inch tips that they could use and do several coils with, have some sort of flaws.

It just "teaches" newbies such bad techniques and mentality.

Overall, it's just a question that these people shouldn't even make these videos, they are more harmful than helpful, especially when you know what you're doing and can make a list of the mistakes these people do.

I think that's a sign of them being VERY new to building.. less that they are teaching bad habits.

It takes practice to know exactly how much your going to need to cut off, and practice to cut the perfect amount of cotton.

I waste a lot because I can't yet gauge those things well.. in time I know ill be able to cut off the perfect amount, but I'm still wasting a lot because when I try to cut the right amount I'm shorting myself, and when I try not to short myself I waste .

So that is simply a sign of being new to building.

So really the question should be, should someone new to building be trying to teach building? I'd say no..
