Thank you everyone for the prayers and well wishes for Linkin. He is doing much better. He is pretty much back to normal but the vet said his back legs are starting to give out but he is walking and eating and kinda running around and sleeping alot. It has been a long couple of days and I am exhausted. But as long as he is doing better I don't care. He has a large supply of frosty paws. (doggy ice cream)

Kellie, I am *so* happy for you, I just don't have words... What a relief you must feel! Give Linkin a smooch for me, and here is a big virtual hug for you: {{{Kellie}}}

It's so hard when our furkids are sick... I bet you *are* totally exhausted, physically and emotionally. I am in something like this for the long haul with my Myst. She's got heart problems, thyroid problems, disc disease in her back, and probably Degenerative Mylopathy (basically, she is getting progressively paralyzed from her back end), and I just went through a period of running back and forth to Cornell for all sorts of tests, and meds, and this, and that, and they never did figure out which of her problems were causing her most pronounced symptom that started this whole madness: labored breathing. So we are right back where we started from. Only she seems to be a bit better now, and I have no idea why. Neither does the vet. Myst is 11 and a half, and has a pretty good attitude and appetite, her tangling and weak back legs don't seem to bother her all that much, so, depending on how things progress, I'm thinking maybe we'll end up with a back-end cart... Meanwhile I am planning on doing physical therapy and trying to keep her calm... Heh. Try that with a German Shepherd who is convinced that her sole purpose in life is to bark at all comers and eat. In that order. LOL

Anyway - your news are terrific. I'm so happy for you. Would love to see more pics of him, too. :)

BTW, if he shows any complications with anything, or you are not sure if your vet is up to dealing with everything, a Cornell consult is more than worth it. They are terrific, and their prices are really not as bad as I had thought. I don't know if you have insurance on Linkin (you might want to get on even now - Trupanion takes dogs of all ages, and pays out 90% of actual paid fees), but that would help, of course. Anyway, when I took Myst for the initial internist consult, they had an internist, four cardiologists, two oncologists, and several students evaluating her all at once - lots of brainpower all at the same time. The consult was about five hours, and they treated her really nice, she wasn't stressed at all. And their reports and follow-ups are really good and informative. Just in case, if you ever need anything extra, you might consider them. The trip is long and a PITA from where we are, but doable in two and a half hours

I never thought of pet insurance. Thanks for the tip. Linkin was abused (more like neglected) before he was rescued by the guy who lives upstairs but then he got a job out of town 5 days a week and I started watching him. Then my mom got real sick and lived with me and fell in love with Linkin. After my mom passed away the guy upstairs got laid off and took Linkin back. I then got Lox. Then he got his job back and he gave me Linkin to keep. He had a baby and everytime he took him out potty he would run and stand at my door so I guess he picked me. Lox annoys him but he puts up with him. Lox is super hyper.
Linkins back legs really don't seem to bother him he still runs and jumps but I notice he is draging his feet and his legs twist in when he walks. But he has had a hard life. I don't understand why any one would be mean to him he is perfectly behaved and sooo lovey. He is safe and happy now though and will enjoy the rest of his life..........

Can't lose this thread... :)

Besides: Kellie, how is your pupper doing? Inquiring (and caring) minds want to know. :)

He is doing really well. He is still having a little trouble with his back left leg but the vet says it's prob from the stroke. But he is sooo much better :) Thanks for asking

Kellie, I'm soooo glad to hear that. I've been waiting for you to show up on this thread so we could find out. :) The vivi nova and other goodies will still be there after you recover from the vet bills :)
