They are fortunate. I found one other that still remains in the apps store. Last summer when I released my app, there were roughly 5-6. I was told that my app was not the only one that was targeted.
Just as an FYI. My app was a test app to see what the process would be like submitting an app. Originally I just wanted to create something simple for myself. When I first released the app, it was free with some adware which was placed out of the way from the controls. No surprise, I received very little revenue from ads (about $10/month). Again, this was educational for me and not intended to make a small fortune. However. I decided I would add a remove ads in app purchase. Upon submitting my updates, I was rejected. I had been previously rejected by apple but made some minor changes that somehow let me pass. However, after speaking with them directly, I was informed that it's the premise of the app that is causing it to be rejected and that similar apps were being removed / reject. This occurred 4-5 months ago. Since it wasn't about the money, I wrote it off. However, the principle has been festering and finally pushed me to do something about it.
It may amount to nothing. As stated above, Apple will probably, continue to be a liberal nanny. That said, regardless of the outcome, I will always voice my opinion. That's my right. Wait .... Is it still a right?
Thanks everyone for the civilized banter.
