PG and headaches

I joined this forum in order to post in a specific thread regarding PG and associated headaches. Since I can't do that, I'm posting my response here. People have given a variety of proposed reasons for the headaches and I had NONE of those things (nicotine, specific flavors) but I DID have the severe headaches. They were severe enough for me to return the kit to Greensmoke and the entire experience killed my last remaining desire to smoke (cigarettes) at all. PG may be in bread and cake mix and inhalers and a number of other products, but that does not mean the same amount is ingested or inhaled. The delivery method changes the amount in your bloodstream dramatically. The tiny amount in baked goods or other foods arrives differently than the much larger amount in an ecig. Ecigs are used a LOT more than an inhaler. Comparisons like that are about as useful as the comparison between an apple and a dump truck.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a HUGE fan of Ecigs and I think the FDA needs to back WAY OFF (actually, I think the FDA needs to be disbanded and an actually useful and NOT bought and paid for agency put in its place). Not everyone gets a headache from PG. But if there's a way to get the vapor without it, I think that's the way to go....I don't believe it's as safe in these amounts as people think it is or we would all like it to be. And if THAT were the driving force behind the FDA's posturing, I wouldn't foam at the mouth (as much) when they seize shipments as *nicotine delivery systems*. But it's not. The FDA protects whoever pads its pockets, NOT CONSUMERS. When the tobacco industry has bought up the last ecig company, the FDA will become mysteriously quiet on this topic, if history repeats itself. Legislation that *protects* the tobacco industry's *right* to monopolize (of course, they'll never use that word) such companies would not surprise me at all.

Point being, when you find something that works the wonders you've prayed for, it's easy to slide into denial when someone suggests there's a rat in Paradise. And just because a few industries that use a particular product say it is safe, doesn't mean it is. At one time, the same thing was said about asbestos. And cigarette smoking, for that matter. If you have a viable option to PG, it might be wise to take it....whatever causes the headache is causing something else, the headache is just the symptom. While everyone might not display the symptom, chances are most people do have the underlying problem and don't know it.

These are all just things to think about. Good luck and blessings to you all. :)

I have never, ever, seen anyone claim vaping is "safe"... not even on these boards. What they do, however, say is that its safer than smoking. As for your statements regarding PG... yes, some are sensitive to it and may become aware of that for the first time in their lives by vaping but the "alternative" you mention would be VG. Many PG-sensitive people vape 100% VG but for others, like myself, that amount of VG causes congestion/phlegm/mucus in the bronchial tubes as well as the nose. I vape the lowest VG content I can that still provides the vapor I like as I don't have a problem with PG. Everyone is different and this one-size-fits all thinking just invites irrational legislation. Just because some are sensitive to mushrooms, oranges or wheat doesn't mean banning them is in order. Each person must be a wise consumer and that means knowing their own bodies. It does not mean forcing their personal findings down the throats of others. Vaping has vastly (not an exaggeration) improved my health and, most likely, increased my longevity. If the nanny-state do "gooders" start tampering with whatever makes me healthier whether it be ecigs or anything else, I'll find a way around them.

So this might be why I started having headaches for the first time in my life! I started vaping in December and quit analogs 2/13/13 a friend gave me some red hot juice Sunday and I stared vaping on it this week. Yesterday and today I've had the worst headache of my life thinking it could be the new juice since it is high in PG I'll go a few days with out it and see what happens. So thankful ECF is here I've learned a lot from it

in any group of people you are going to find a percentage of people who are intolerant to pg. on the other side of the coin, i attribute my headaches (since i started getting them for years now.) to hydration, food, and stress. if you never had headaches b4 vaping pg intolerance is probably your problem. if not the other headache triggers may be in play. congrats to ending the stinkers. stay active on these threads. this is still your support group.

Doubtful.

One person registered specifically to post that PG gave them a headache. Anecdotal at best. Could be anything, or nothing related to vaping at all. Could be withdraws from quitting smoking.
