I picked up some PG from shavers pharmacy, its usp grade and is fine. (I actualy got it from the pharmacist in a cough syrup bottle, not prepackaged on the shelf.)

To get it from a pharmacy, look for a "compounding" pharmacy (they mix their own compounds, like special salvs or creams.)

I've not seen the VG this way, only the stuff on the shelf.
Watkins is in with the cake making stuff but it is questionable from what I've read.
The Humco brand (by the medicated hand creams) is said to be 99.6% pure and I've heard good to vape.
There are other brands. Read the label. It must be USP grade. Anything the pharmisist gives you is almost garenteed to be USP, if its on the shelf and it doesn't say USP in the name, look for a purity rating. If its not 99% or better don't use it. If it says 100% pure, think very hard and do some reasearch. There is no such thing as 100% pure, with VG and PG it is impossible to get rid of the last .3% - .5% of water, which is considered an impurity.

Hope that helps some.

I get my VG from Whole Foods, Heritage brand. CVS also sells USP glycerin, but I do not know if it is veggie, animal, or synthetic based. It is $4 for 8 oz. I have some, but I like the taste of the Heritage better, and yes, I did taste a difference. Amazon sells Now brand VG, which got good reviews here. Lots of people use CVS/Humco glycerin, without issues. YMMV, since I have found the different brands can taste different.

I'm confused (again).

I have the Humco Glycerine that others have posted, but my label is different. It says "Glycerin" and "USP". Ingredients say " Glycerin 99.5% Anhydrous".

Is this PG, or VG, or neither? I was under the impression Glycerin is PG. So why do some sites sell what they call Glycerin, and other sites sell Propylene Glycol?

I really want to start the DIY thing, but want to make sure I'm doing it right.

Also, do I HAVE to use VG, or would the vapor production suck without it?

Humco is fine for use in vaping. For all intensive purposes consider it VG. PG is propylene glycol. PG is significantly thinner than VG and does not necessarily need thinning. VG usualy needs to be thinned with either PGA (Pure Grain Alcohol,..aka Everclear if avail in your state) or 100 proof vodka (if its not) or distilled water. For more throat hit, use alcohol, for less water.

VG does not have to be used, you can mix all PG if you like. Some prefer PG and some VG. VG produces more vapor than PG, and some people develop sensitivity to one or the other. PG and VG taste slightly different.

PG can be purchased from a "Compounding" pharmacy. Where I live I got it from Shavers Pharmacy, but I've hear that others can order it for you.

Other than that, take it slow and deliberate. Keep records of your mixes and label everything. Other wise you'll end up finding a mix that you realy like and not being able to reproduce it.

Treat your juice mixing like you would treat potentialy dangerous chemicals in a lab (because, basicaly you are.) Sanitize all surfaces in your work area, avoid cross contamination of your ingredients from using the same tools, (i.e. don't use the same dropper in your nicotine as you do your flavoring or your VG.)

Keep pets and children out of your mixing area. Put plastic down and be sure to clean up very well. One drop of concentrated (100mg) juice can kill a pet and make a child very sick.

Wear rubber gloves, an apron and a face shield. High strength nicotine can quickly absorb through your skin. (100MG)

I wear gloves when I work with 50mg, and full gear anything more than that. At anything lower than 40mg I just be sure to wipe up any spilled juice and wipe my hands.

Always wash your hands before working with pets, especialy fish. Small amounts of e-juice from your hands can wipe out your tank.

Use your head and everything will be fine. Space off or forget and you or someone else could get sick.

Good luck and have fun.

Thanks! Apparently, I had PG and VG mixed up. I plan on getting premixed unflavored juice at no more than 60mg, and cutting that down to 24mg per bottle. I downloaded that hackomatic file from here and will be using that. I also plan on trying to find a locking safety box (or safe), that will be big enough to store the nicotine juice, because I do have children.

The Glycerin I have is REALLY thick, so I'll have to thin it out with something. Again, that would go into the safe as well I if I use PGA or vodka. I don't keep alcohol in the house, because of the kids. 2 are in high school, and I don't want to present them with any temptation at home, lol.

Now if I could just decide on flavorings, lol. Seems like each company has a few flavors the others don't, which is making me indecisive.

You can cut your vg with distilled water 80% vg 20% distilled water seems to be the favorite ratio.
A lot of people really like the flavourart flavorings.
