PG taste

Hi guys

I've been getting a nasty after taste from my juice lately...something I haven't had before using the nautilus clearo

Anyway its not burned out or anything like that, its a taste that I can't quite put my finger on..until now.

I used to do other conversions, which I won't mention as its boring...but never the less it involved using peg (PG) for oral consumption

So finally I realised that the taste I'm getting is the PG!!

Could it be the nautilus?

Does anyone else get this naty taste, or is it just me?

Is there any way round it? Maybe find a supplier that uses lower ratios of PG?

Thing is that I don't want to lose the great taste of my juice..but I can't stand this after taste any longer!!!

Thoughts?

How long have you been vaping? And are you in a quit smoking/started vaping phase? If so it could be a matter of your taste buds just 'waking up' and a lot of things are going to taste different now. Might be the PG - or it may actually be something else in the liquids you now don't like either.

What liquids are we talking about here? And do you know the PG/VG ratio?

First off... PEG and PG are not the same. PEG is polyethylene glycol; PG is propylene glycol. Most ejuice, maybe 99.99%, that has anything other than VG and flavors, has PG, not PEG. I tried some PEG, but it has a really odd taste, kinda like dill -- makes stuff taste like dill pickles! Not one of my favorite flavors at any time, and certainly not for vaping.

Secondly... I could not abide the taste I got from a Nautilus. Nevermind the "getting nothing, then getting too much, too hot" which seems to be a regular feature of dual coils, it changed the taste of my favorite juice so much I couldn't even recognize it. I sold my nautilus within 2 wks of getting it, I hated it so much, and have since not tried anything else with dual coils, since they never give me the kind of vape I want, and they use up batteries too fast anyway.

I actually stopped smoking a decade ago

But I developed ulcerative colitis in my older age and researched that nicotine helps reduce flares..hence vaping....I started a few months back but with eGo ...now I'm using a mod and the taste appeared :-(

My juice is from vapourlites in the UK

I think its 80% PG and 20%vg
Thanks for the reply

Hi Andria :)

Because the taste I'm getting is exactly the same as peg I did a google and saw the full name

Being dyslexic I must have read the wrong word as they are kinda similar (to a dyslexic person anyway lol)

But never the less..the taste I'm getting is the same as peg

I might try another clearo, which is a shame because with the new bvc coils it tastes fantastic....until the aftertaste :-(

Any suggestions on a good one to try that has a decent sized tank???

I'm not sure all PG is created equal either. I'd try different sources...
If that doesn't work, VG. Not that that is all equal either! :p
:2c:
I didn't know this, thank you

Maybe I'll try another supplier and see if there is a difference..its cheaper than buying a new clearo....if that doesn't work then it new hardware I suppose...

Good Catch! I totally missed the "peg" and read the (PG) in his post! Good work.

So are you using PG or PEG? Still confused. Which tastes bad? PG, but you think it reminds you of PEG? Meh. Don't worry too much about what else you think it tastes like....it's more important the you check for good quality PG. ;)

Yes I thought PG and peg were the same

But the taste I'm getting is exactly the same as peg

I checked the vapourlites juice is 80% PG / 20% vg

Here is the link to the ingredients on the website

Propylene Glycol

It could possibly be the juice itself -- I tried a French Vanilla flavor from one of my favorite online vendors; the taste while vaping is pretty good, but the aftertaste... bleah! Very similar to lasagna, of all things -- vanilla should definitely not taste like lasagna, and lasagna not taste like vanilla! I've been scared to try it since then, so I may end up just tossing that one.

But I have to agree about the Nautilus, although when I got mine it was the original coils; it just changed the taste completely of my favorite all-day ejuice so it didn't even taste good -- though it tastes great in everything else, even the humble little eRolls I started with, all the way up to the rebuildables I use now.

All my own suggestions would be for single-coil tanks, because I just don't like duals; the Protank, and Protank II, and the mini versions of both of those, though they do hold a lot less; the Hypertank and Hypertank II, which both use Protank coils; the Hypertanks are quite large, about 4.5ml or so. If you do like duals, then the Protank III, and a lot of the newer versions of the Aerotank - mega, turbo, whatever. I don't really keep up with them, since I use rebuildables now.

If you're up to rebuildables, you just can't beat a Kayfun, though a lot are trying. It doesn't have to be an "authentic," if you're just trying it out. Tobeco Kayfun Lite Plus clones are excellent, and though they cost less than the EHPro or Hcigar clones of the KFL+ they also seem to have far fewer problems -- my own are terrific, best vape I've ever had. They're also a whole lot less trouble than any of the protanks, none of that leaking gurgling business, and coils that you make yourself will last virtually indefinitely; most of the manufactured coils are made of such flimsy wire, they never last long, and have to be replaced -- I guess it's that "built-in obsolescence" that guarantees them return customers.

Andria

Thanks andria...I will try one of those

Not sure I'm up to building coils yet

I've had a few eGo's that required re wicking and that was enough of a pain in the .... for me lol

Regarding juice I think I'll try another brand with lower PG .... Only 20% VG is not enough I think....

I know I'm OK with VG because I got into vaping because of reasons stated earlier in the thread, but I also use VG 100% for medicinal brews and I know that I don't get the aftertaste with that :)

If it's coming from a vendor, its probably good quality.
I'd check other things then....like the hardware or wicking or flavor you don't like or whatever.

I mix my own juice and have noticed that the PG has a bad taste also.
It was ok when I first bought it but has changed.
The USP PG that I am using has degraded.
It has a waxy flavor and has thickened.
If I store it in clear glass vial it turns yellow colored.
The taste is foul.
Previously, I haven't had a problem using PG.
