PG/VG ratio effect on flavours?

I'm looking around making a shopping list of stuff to try out DIY. So far all I've got is some VG (10$ for 450ml at the store 2 blocks from home!)

I'm wondering if I should get one bottle of 50/50 nic juice, or 2 smaller bottles of 100% PG and VG and 'play'. I'm thinking I should get the two smaller bottles of 100% each so I can test out what gives the best vape for an otherwise identical recipe.

Does the PG/VG ratio have an effect on flavours?
Again, assuming the same recipe, but only varying the VG/PG ratio, are some mixes better with coffee, beer or other stong tasting beverages?

Wingz - Have you read the DIY section stickies and guides. They have a lot of helpful info. Unless you are going to go with an all VG or all PG mix IMO it does not matter if you are going to be buying 100mg/ml nic. I use an 80pg/20vg mix and make my base at 12mg/ml. So in a 100ml batch the nic juice is only taking up 12mls. I buy all my nic at 100%pg. I have found that the higher the VG content the more flavoring I need. Best of luck and DIY is an awesome hobby. I have collected over 100 falvorings and my finished juices are only limited by my imagination. I still have commercial juices laying around but I have found I like my own concoctions much better.

I have also found that I use this handy calculator daily and it is free from ECF memeber Breaktru:

Best of luck on the DIY and happy vapping

That's what I wanted to know! I'll have to try it out and see if I can get the same taste from a mix by using a little more PG and less flavoring.

I've read a pile of stickies, most of the last 3 pages worth of threads from this sub-forum, supplier guides and youtube stuff. based on all of that, I have a huge spreadsheet costing out a 'standard' 30ml 18mg mix at 10% flavoring to see which mg strength from which supplier is more cost effective (taking into account shipping costs and customs problems and handling hazards with stronger stuff).

I'm thinking I'll have plenty of different results if I just get a 50/50 mix and cut it with different amounts of either PG or VG to see the different effect it has.
