Hi..

anyone help with this as my brain is failing me...

I have a 70/30 vg/pg flavourless premix..

I have flavours that ive just noticed are almost 100% pg..

If I want to add 20% flavour..

Making up for argument sake a 10ml bottle..

what is my end Vg/pg ratio?

If I wanted to end up with a 70/30 flavoured juice... how much 100% vg would I need to add to the premix before flavouring?

its my first go at this an I thought peemix would be a good start.. but maybe not

Hi.. erm.... haha... im not using one.. I think maybe I should have.. I do have a vapecalc app.. but I cant seem to work it with premix...

better still.. I have a litre of 70/30 premix.. if I combine that litre with another litre.. or just ad 50/50 of a second litre of premix.. what ratio would the second litre need to be to give a 70/30 ish end product after adding the 20% of flavour.. which is pg...

The calculators dont seem to be able to reverse engineer my issue.. im using an 8 mg nic premix.. thinking my end result would be about 6mg with 20% flavours..but its the ratio of vg to pg that I need to get right for the end product.. and it doesnt need to be precise. So taking out the nicotine level for this initial batch load.. I intend to work individual chemicals together after I have worked through my 2 litres haha

Just to keep it simple:
If you add 20% more PG(flavour/etc) ...you would need to add 20% more VG to maintain the original ratio (30/70 PG/VG)
If you have not used the flavour previously, 20% might be a bit strong depending on the brand.
Lets answer some basics:
What nic level do you vape?
What do you want your final mix to be? PG/VG ratio/ nic level?
Does the 30/70 premix ALSO contain nicotine? at what level?
Do you have any straight VG?

Cheers

I have 1 litre of 8mg 70/30 premix..
A few flavours.

I am wanting to vape around at 6mg 70/30 mix..

I can get some more 100% vg with 8mg nic..

The flavours I have got.. and tried a sample at 20% work pretty good.. and im happy to stick with these flavours at around 20%..

I was thinking for ease.. just to get another litre of ???/??? Vg/pg... with 8mg of nic.. to have a batch I can quickly knock together.. and have this as part of a learning curve.. and then do my research.

If you add 20% more PG(flavour/etc) ...you would need to add 20% more VG to maintain the original ratio (30/70 PG/VG)

So would i need to do 60% premix 20% pg Flavour and 20% vg? To get 100%

Or 8ml of premix 2ml of pg flavour and then add a further 2 ml of vg... to correct my mix.. so 80% premix 20% flavour and the same quantity of vg to Balance the mix out...

Sorry to box your head in.. appreciate the help

You will need to add 1 liter of 100% VG to bring your liter of 30/70 premix down to 15PG/85VG.

Using that base you'll get much closer to the ratio you want. Cheers.

No worries.. you are on the right track.
If I were you... I would add my 20% flavour, shake it and vape it.

I suggest you buy nicotine in at least double the strength of your final mix. ( I use 100mg/ml and add 5 ml to my 100ML batches for an end strength of .5% (5MG/ML))

I buy nic base at 10% nicotine (100mg/ml) in 100% PG OR 100% VG.
I have a litre of VG and a litre of PG both with 0 nicotine.

Make some changes to your next order so you don't crash into this situation again.

8mg/ml cut by 20% is 6.4mg/ml
8mg/ml cut by 40% is 4.8mg/ml.

Definitely use a calculator to arrive at the end point in your mix. It's also cheaper to buy the individual components and start from scratch. Buy your nic base and flavorings in the closest ratio to your desired end mix.

Your dilemma is the reason that people buy highly concentrated flavorings. Adding 1% to 3% flavoring makes mixing easier. 20% really throws off the final mix, but the calculator makes it easy.

what is my end Vg/pg ratio?

Your end ratio with 70/30 8 mg base mixed with 20% PG based flavoring will be 56/44 (VG/PG) and 6.40 mg nicotine.

Without having to add any VG/PG, you can come close to your target by starting with an 85/15 8 mg premix (That is, if your flavoring ratio of 20% remains constant). That premix + 20% pg flavoring will net you 68/32 6.40 mg nic.

What brand are these highly concentrated flavours? I got mone from vapours-r-us.co.uk

States they are extra strong concentration... but many report using 15-20 % which is no way near close to yours.. However they had good reviews and prices for a stab in the dark first attemp at this diy thing...

Could you give me a link to yoir mentioned concentrates.. this seems like a much better way of flavouring..

Thanks for everyones advise

Percentages vary with the company that made it, as well as the particular mix for the flavor. Some mixes are very concentrated and others are more diluted. If the vendor website doesn't list recommended percentages, then you have to go to the original manufacturer's site to see that info. You can also search ECF and other ecig forums for that info.

The real trick to using a pre-made base is to relax a little. If you're doing this just for yourself there's nothing saying that you need to end up at an exact pg/vg ratio or nicotine amount. I buy my 100 mg/ml nicotine in PG (because I like a higher percentage of PG) and some VG and PG separately. I make a base at 18mg/ml at 65% pg/35% vg. Most of the flavors I use are in PG. So depending on the recipe I'll end up with about 15-17 mg/ml at about 70/30 pg/vg. That's close enough for me.
