You could write a book about this. A lot of people have issues with PG including me so I stick to very high VG juices. Plus I prefer the smoothness of VG. It has been said that PG carries flavor better but I don't totally agree. I think it just takes longer for the flavor to develop. In other words it takes more steeping time

Just lately I seem to becoming more and more sensitive to VG. Almost all my liquids (shop bought and DIY'd) are max VG liquids and I've recently been getting a heaviness in my chest and coughing up clear crap from my lungs most days.

I switched back to 50/50 for a couple of days and the symptoms eased for me. So I will say that what's right for you today may change - so don't be afraid to experiment. I am going to start adding PG back to my mixes and see if I can find a sweet spot as I most definitely prefer VG over PG flavor wise.

I know most report sensitivities to PG though, but I thought it worth mentioning.

Oh man this subject is awesome lots of information and misinformation. I highly suggest you do your research. There are plenty of generalizations about the two.

I will explain one: Pg is a better carrier of flavor? Absolutely true. It is possible to dissolve more flavor in PG than VG. Due to the viscosity of VG it will not accept as many mg per ml as PG. Alcohols is a better flavor carrier than either PG or VG. Roughly the numbers are Alcohol=15% PG = 10% VG = 5.5%

I just switched to max vg juices and have the same problem with coughing up clear crap.

PG is usually the flavor carrier, it also is a thinner liquid.
VG is where the clouds come from, in the vapor. Very thick on its own. Some people/vendors will thin it with distilled water.

There are vendors that do sell 100% VG liquids that have the flavor base in VG. This is for those that have allergic reactions to PG. A good vendor will let you know if their base flavor is based in PG or VG when asked or may state on their website.

My preference is 70/30 PG/VG ratio. The only reason that I do have that preference, the vendor's samples (premixed and ready for use right away) that I tried, came with that ratio. I didn't have any problems and am totally satisfied with the flavor and vapor production.

You may have to get different ratios to find what suits you best. If you don't have any issues, just stick with what the vendor recommends for that particular flavor.

I know it's confusing when first starting out. Don't worry, in a few weeks or months, you will be here helping other new members learn :)

How much distilled water do I need to use to thin max vg juice

Start with droplets I would guess. We do have a section of the forum for mixing your own liquids: DIY E-Liquid

Maybe do a search in there? Better to do a google search with ECF in the search title. Works better than the forum search function ;)

What I prefer depends on what I'm using to vape. If I'm using my nautilus or et-s tanks then I prefer a 50/50 mix. When I do my diy for dripping I use max vg. I use a vg nic base and adjust the nic level with glycerin. The only thing that isn't vg is the flavorings. It really depends on you and what you prefer.
