PGA in Canada

PGA (pure grain alcohol) is not available in Canada, PGA is 190 proof (US) or 95% alcohol here in the Great White North.

The only place to get PGA in Canada is Quebec. So for those who live near the border, it is just a matter of heading across and fetching a bottle. Alcool 94% is in fact PGA.

I think in Alberta you can get Everclear. It's 95% and wow, it packs a punch. I picked up a bottle on my last trip stateside. Reminds me of the moonshine I used to drink in India and Saudi Arabia!

Yes you can indeed get everclear in Alberta, it is still hard to find apparently due to insurance reasons or something. I get different reasons everytime I ask for it. Once I was even told I should go to the homeless shelter to get some! After much searching I did finally find one place in Lethbridge where it can be purchased

Why not use rubbing alchol. Get the bottle that use ethanol not isopropyl if you so favor.

Yes its denatured so you can't drink it, but thats not the plan anyhow right?

Yeah, everclear is here in alberta.
Not to hard to find in Edmonton, however...
I cant even look at the stuff anymore.

In Ontario, I believe it is available, but only by request, or with permission....like a doctor's note or something. I'm not sure, never bought it myself but was told you can get it. Just tell them you need it to make homemade vanilla extract or something like that, choose one of the bigger nicer LCBOs, I expect they would be more likely to have some than the little hole-in-the-wall locations.

I live in Wallaceburg. One of those little holes in the wall. They don't sell Alcool. Best I could get is Vodka.I really don't think you need the pure stuff to sanitize equipment.

Who said anything about sanitizing equipment? I use Isopropyl alcohol to do that.

Well the sister sent me some and after using what I needed it for, I still have enough for another 36.5 years LOL. One drop for the mix 2 drops for me, 2 drops for the mix 4 drops for me, 3 drops frigg the mix...

My understanding Greg for diluting TA, ya need the real stuff. With regards to using alcohol for TH, anything will do actually.

Gotta remeber that stuff is as think as roofing tar with sugar, so you might end up with a bigger mess than you started with.

Don't know what you call the junk they try to pass for Rum with the bat on it around here.

Betacha if we did a blind taste taste (pardon the pun) using the Polar Bear, between the stuff with the bat on it and isopropyl he wouldn't be able to taste the difference.
