I heard a rumor that phillip morris bought out ruyan does anybody know if this is true?! If so then this is a great sign for e cigs because the fda has their hands deep in PMs pockets so they would have a headsup as to what the fdas plans were. If anybody could shed some light on this that would be great!

I hope this isent the case.. Next will come the big sin taxes.

It will be interesting to see how this one plays out. Phillip Morris and other large tobacco manufacturers have to know that there is a threat with e-cigs stealing their life long customers. If they are smart, they will buy the technology to create thier own brand. But you never know with big business. They may just buy it to get rid of it and keep pushing thier analogs.

Probably not, but they have to know that at some point analogs run a very high risk of being banned somehow. You can just watch the bull**** anti smoking commercials on the tv to know that the deck is being stacked against them. And the taxes that are being placed on analogs now are rediculious. In time, they will either be banned or taxed out of exsistance. If they are smart and really wanting to make a future for thier comapny, they will buy the rights and produce thier own for resale.

they would be fool not to embrace this tech. they have to know that in the future analogs will prolly be a thing of the past, with or without e-cigs. with the ever growing taxes and prices on analogs, no smoking laws every where nowa days, and the growing concern about health.. analogs are on their way out, hence PM would be on their way out. e-cigs would save their company.

It's a catch 22 they will tax them to the point of losing customers, then scale it back to a level that they retain customers while lining the coffers of your local state government. They generate way to much cash to be banned. (analogs)

Think about it, has PM ever done anything good for consumers ?

Sure they have! They made the less harsh, better tasting, more efficient at delivering addictive nicotine and steadily keeping us more and more happy with increasing dosage. They threw in ammonia for us lucky folks so we could freebase it instead of the old days of just puffing tobacco. Heck they even recon the stems and pieces on the floor and put it back in, so that we are getting everything we pay for.

Sounds very familiar...like... "Who Killed the Electric Car?" GM never intended people to actually like the EV-1. When it started to look like they would have to retool all their factories, or maybe when Big Oil put the squeeze on them, they rounded all of them up and shredded them.
But then again, R&D at PM were already developing an inhaler. It's going to come down to what will produce the most profit in the least amount of time. Typically, American corporations are short sighted. They live and die in 3 month increments. Contrast this with Toyota, they have a business plan that spans over 300 years!! America invents the transistor for use in hearing aids. Japan takes that same transistor and makes portable hand held radios creating a consumer electronics explosion that continues today. If they are smart, they'll realize that they are not in the cigarette business. They are in the business of distributing nicotine delivery systems, and it's time for them to upgrade their product line and join the rest of us in the 21st century.

if pm gets in the buisness then the other tobacco company's will probably follow suit. worst part is they will probably tax juice to the point it will cost the same or more than a pack of analogs probably more. or they will just make disposable cartamizers and try and get rid of juice all together no more refilling, or just squash the e-cigs altogether and try to keep tobacco around as long as possible. no matter what P.M. and ruyan together is a bad thing for E-cigs as we know them.
