Thanks! Just was going by what the cultural dictionary said! I like yours as well! How do you pronounce it? It's very authentic! :D

I think it would be Ba-la-paa'-lee (the "paa'" would have a rising tone I think)

But we need a linquist to be sure. I'll research it some more and try to get the phonetics for it.

Totem's were generally made from large trees like Redwoods and they grow in the Pacific Northwest and Northern California. That is why they are found there. In other areas Native Americans did rock carving and painting to perform the a similar function.

I also just submitted "The Woody tank" and "Panel Tank" to go along with the wood theme.

I got my 3 in for today. So far I've got the 'Phinaic Artisan Marque' (that's pronounced Mark, I believe.) since the artform of wood inlay is called marquetry. The Phinaic Hobbit, since hobbits are cute and known wood crafters... plus I can see saying 'I'm so excited! I just ordered my Hobbit tank!'. And 'Phiniac Art Bark'... cause its quippy and sorta play on words.

Yeah, that's the thing... 4 of the 5 prizes are random, so you've got a better shot at that than coming up with the one best name in the universe, and only suggesting that one. I did put a lot of thought into mine, though, but guessing as days pass I'll run out of ideas! rofl

I liked the hobbit. However I don't know if I am going to be able to choose. If I do decide to throw my 2 cents in, it will be a three person panel, if not Mist and Chris are on their own!

We actually were going to do just a random draw for 4 winners, as I do not like having to choose a winner subjectively. But I also knew if my submission was the name actually used, I'd be ...... that 4 other people won a prize and I got nothing. That is why the grand prize is exactly the same as first place. I thought that way the whoever submits the winning name will feel as if they got a good prize and considering we are giving out the same prize via random draw, plus 3 others, no one would have to worry about favoritism! I wanted everyone to have a fair shot at winning something.

I hope everyone thinks it is good.

Yep, I agree. The way you set the whole contest up, from concept to prize distribution, to the submission form, and 3 chances a day is fantastic! Coolest contest I've seen from vendor, anyway. I love that its not just 'come up with your best name and submit once', cause you never know when inspiration will strike. ;) And thanks, Moorea! I wasn't sure about Hobbit, but I kept coming back to it, so glad you like it, too.

I ALWAYS want to spell your screenname with 2 a's! Is there a mythical person named Moreaa? For some reason I keep going back to that. lol

Not trying to be a suck up or anything but she normally does run the best contest!

I've never heard of Moreaa. Moorea is the Island in Tahiti where the hubby and I honeymooned. I miss working for the travel agency.

It is good! And you are right in every decision you made about how to distribute your prizes.... Not to mention that you giving out lotsa prizes!

I think it is the biggest we have done, I don't know what sizes or which veneers will be chosen by the winners, but if the cheapest options are chosen the retail value of all the prizes put together is over $450 dollars before shipping! I can't play but I am excited!
