Not yet having owned a Phiniac tank myself I may not be the best person to say, but a close friend of mine got one for his first tank and based on what I have seen/heard, you will not be disappointed! I can say for sure those drop test videos on the Phiniac website are no joke - these tanks can take some abuse. "Rugged" is not just a catch phrase with these tanks.

Moorea, will u be getting anymore cobra tanks? I was wanting a custom tank if you are

Yup, I should have some soon. Haven't gotten a confirmation on my order yet so can't give an exact date, but if you are signed up for the Cobra News newsletter you will receive 24 hours notice before the cobras and the tabks are on the site.

Missed the sale as we were out of town, but I'm *finally* getting a new tank. Yay!

I'm already ready to stalk the mailman. (Actually I'm not, she's really mean and yells at us for getting too much mail) But you know what I mean! :D

I also met a guy the other day who had just ordered his very first Phiniac. He saw mine and asked if it was a Phin. I said I wouldn't use anything else! :)

OK, I'm a little bit hyper, I may need to lay of the caffeine for a bit.

:(

Turns out if a 'blasted Phin in stainless caps falls flat on its side, five feet is enough to crack it. I don't think there would have been a problem in the delrin caps since they have so much more overhang/protection, but that doesn't matter now. It was a good year (13 1/2 months), and I will use her corpse for some other project...

Ah well, guess I'll have to phrost the replacement when I get around to ordering it...

OUCH, pwyll!

I lucked out with one of my Phinny's a couple of weeks ago. I was leaving the house to take Ben the Dog for his walk. As I held his leash, I was trying to put my BP with a trippy and a Phinny on it into my jeans pocket, Ben pulled left and the BP all decked out, went crashing into the concrete driveway.

I was afraid to look but when I did, everything was still intact. Someone was looking after me. I had a serious talk with Ben about he knows better than to pull me with all of his 14 lbs.

Edit: forgot to say, that that Phinny had SS caps too.

Overhang is exactly the same on the caps, they are machined to the same exact specs. But there will be much less of a chance that a fall with delrin caps will result in a break then stainless. The delrin is a softer material and will absorb the impact, where as stainless is a much harder material and will not, I am not so sure, but it is even a possibility that the SS might pass some of the impact onto the glass. What did it fall on? We did several tests without any caps on a hardwood oak floors and they survived every time. It could be it was just it's time. If memory serves correct you are the one that told story about hiding under a glass table that broke for absolutely no reason... sometimes glass just breaks.

All of that being said, when we moved titanium we changed the specs so there was less surface area inside the tank (still the same outside specs, so same overhang) so the titanium could provide a little more protection then the SS.
