Hey guys,

I'm looking to buy the Phoenix rebuildable atomizer sometime soon. I've never used a rebuildable before, mainly because I can't justify the price tag (nor can I afford it). At $40, I feel like the Phoenix is a good investment that won't break the bank lol. Right now, I use a HH.357 on my Provari, and I love it. I just feel like I can "personalize" my vape more with the combination of VV and a rebuildable atty. I'm a die-hard dripper. I don't want/nor can I afford a rebuildable tank system. I want a compact unit, not a big bottle sitting on top of my PV haha. Although, I wouldn't mind a smaller rebuildable tank (around the size of a regular DCT) that will still allow me to drip as well, maybe a CE2-like system: top coil, flip over to soak the wick. A stainless steel unit rather than a plastic/glass tank is always better in my eyes too. I like the weight :p.

Anyway, here are my questions:

1. What is your opinion on these things?
2. How do they perform/compare to others like the Bulli, etc?
3. Will a Siam Mods 510 Ripple Drip Tip fit? I love mine, I'd hate to see it go to waste.
4. Nicrom or Kanthal? What's better? Why?
5. Standard or SS mesh? What's better? Why?
6. Do you have any other more affordable recommendations for rebuildable atties?
7. Any tips/tricks?
8. Am I expecting too much?

Thanks guys, I appreciate the help!

I own two of these and I love them. I took out the silicon ring out of the base where the top cap seals, and put a black o-ring from a drip tip on there. As it's bigger than the silicon one, it allows me to adjust the air hole while retaining a leak-free seal.

1 - I enjoy it. I modded one with a 1.4mm air hole, and left the other alone, and enjoy both very much with a cotton wick.
2 - I've used numerous rebuildables, and I much prefer the Phoenix as the chamber is much smaller, which makes vapor far more tastier.
3 - All my Cherry Vapes Mings fit on these nicely, but I haven't used any other drip tips on there.
4 - I use nichrome on mine, I don't get the metallic taste during break-in time, and in my experience seems far more durable.
5 - I don't use SS any more, cotton far exceeds the wicking ability and taste simultaneously. It's long, but this thread made me switch to 100% cotton gauze from CVS - http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/modding-forum/284030-wick-materials-safe-vs-dangerous.html
6 - If you want another cheapie for $13 plus $4 shipping, jump in the Active Co-Ops section and hurry up and order one of the TBC-2's. It's the exact same thing as the Phoenix, but 25% of the cost, and a better looking top cap: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-rebuildable-atomizers-tbc-1-tbc-2-co-op.html
7 - Just the drip tip black o-ring, I do this on all my rebuildables with a screw in top cap, especially the G-Tank US.
8 - Nope. Anything you buy to vape with, you're always going to get something you like, and something you don't, it's just the nature of the beast. We all have different preferences, and mine just happen to suit the needs the Phoenix can provide, especially with Cotton.

Good luck on your rebuildable search, I've used almost every single one (sans GG stuff, too expensive) and I thoroughly enjoy the Phoenix, G-Tank US, and the Clockworks RDA, all of which I drip with.

Thanks for asking the questions about the Phoenix:) They were exactly what I was wondering! I'm not verified either and I guess I won't be in time to get in that co-op. I think I'll just plunk down the extra change and get one that will arrive at my doorstep in a couple of days.
@ L7DNA4 - Thanks for the tips and hints.

Hey thanks! Just what I'm looking for too!

...I'm not verified. Gonna hurry up and do that now and try and get in on that co-op haha

No problem man, and PM Hola and see if she has any more spots open. I know she closed the thread, but if she gets enough interest, she'll order another batch of 50 to keep up with demand.

Also, if you want a Phoenix immediately, these guys have them in stock for $35:

nice posts here full of info, iam at mountain oaks site now and these ra attys are on sale for 29.99 are this the same exact phoenix attys that liberty flights and vapor ..... have? Iam new to the rebuildable attys but am ready/willing to go through the learning process as to rebuild my own..

Yeah, they're the same ones, just cheaper. I've never bought anything from there before, so I can't recommend the vendor, but the Phoenix is nice.

I can vouch for MOV. Great vendor... I have been dealing with them about 2.5 months and they never fail to ship the same day as the order (within reason). Fast shipping, good prices, and the best eliquid i have tried yet.

I have the phoenix atty and LOVE it. The flavor is off the chart... When I first got it, I loaded some Red Drop (a raspberry limeade.. great stuff) from Mountain Oak Vapors and wow.. 5x the flavor of my stingray 306. I strongly recommend trying this atty for the price if your interested in a rebuild-able.

I use cheesecloth from Wal-Mart (it's food safe, and in the arts/crafts section) or 100% sterile cotton gauze roll from CVS/Walgreens. As long as the wick is wet, and you don't dry burn it, you won't have any problems charring or burning the wick to the point where it would hurt you. In reality, silica isn't *that* bad, I just can't stand the taste, and cotton brings out the flavor in my cinnamon liquid.

You can even use cotton balls as people have been in the thread I mentioned above, but I haven't tried this out yet, but plan on doing this with my GTank-US and Line this weekend (if the kiddos let me :D)

I hear ya. I've wasted quite a bit of money on rebuildables that I either didn't like or couldn't get working to my preference, but after getting the GTank-US, RDA, Phoenix, and the Genesis Mini by Van working in my favor, I haven't looked back.

It takes a vast amount of patience and much more fiddling than I like to give, but I haven't found anything superior to the taste and amount of vapor they produce.

I just purchased 1 for 40 dollars and then found out that I can get it from another place for only 15. then they both sold out but I'll tell you it's a lot cheaper then purchasing your atomizers in cartos every time I need one. Good luck with ur new rebuildsble. And happy vaping

Is the $15 one from the co-op, or is there a Vendor selling it for $15? Please share a link, I'm sure everyone would benefit from it :)

Nevermind, I found it: http://shop.nhaler.com/The-Phoenix-Style-Rebuildable-Atomizer-440.htm

This is actually the same one Hola had her Co-Op for, and these were $12 a piece + shipping. There's no telling how fast NHaler will stock up either, it's a rather lengthy process for him in particular.
