Hi guys. I know these things have a big following, so I'm looking for some advice to help me stay on the wagon. Here is my experience so far:

I bought my first pack of clearomizers last week. I went with the Phoenix bottom coils. They take a while to get used to how to use them well at first, because they do not wick very well. However, I quickly learned that if I blow in and out, and even squeeze the tube gently, to get the air bubbles flowing (signifying the wick getting wet) that I can avoid dry hits that way.
Once I learned how to avoid dry hits, I fell in love. I loved the flavor and the vapor production is GREAT. They also hold about a half a day's liquid for me. Where can these go wrong, right????!!!

I've been running them for about a week, and I'm already growing increasingly skeptical. I actually threw out the first one I opened (and used the most) last night, because I was getting incredibly weak hits and the flavor was off (hits that can be compared to hits on a low battery). Just a massive decrease in performance. I'm going to take the second most-used one tonight and try and clean it out to see if that boosts performance at all.

I think the fact that the juice is constantly just sitting in there (virtually unavoidable unless you clean it every single day) is causing problems. I'm seeing a lot of build up beginning to settle at the bottom of the tube, even after i refill with fresh juice. the non-leaking relies on an air vaccuum, so shaking the carto does virtually nothing. Tipping the carto when filling doesnt help to mix it up either because the buildup is sort trapped in that tight area between the tube and the base.

In closing, my experience with these thus far has not been anything to write home about. Like most hardware, once you get past the learning curve, the first impression is fantastic, but frustration quickly begins to mount by around the third day.

Any advice would be great. I want to like these things, and I'm sort of stuck with them for the near future because I ordered two more packs before experiencing the above symptoms (lesson learned).

Wiggle off the tube, pull the post off the atomizer section, and wash everything in warm water, and let dry overnight. Attach just the atomizer portion to your battery ( I always check with a multimeter before I attach to check for shorts or a dead coil), and push the batt button for 5 seconds. You'll probably see some vapor. Keep pulsing for five seconds, with 5 seconds wait in between, until you see the coil glow red, then STOP! Reassemble, and you're good to go. I clean mine after every 2-3 fills, and they have been lasting months with this method.

Hope this helps :)

Thanks for the quick response! So everything I'm experiencing is standard?

I figured cleaning was the ultimate answer I was going to get. The thought of having to constantly clean is very unappealing to me, but I've been vaping since january now, and I've learned that there is just no way to get a consistent vape without a little maintenance. I will try cleaning one tonight and let it dry overnight. If it truly works, I would say i have found my new go-to. I came from dripping, and I used to clean my atomizers with water and alcohol. Very rarely did it truly help, so my skepticism is justified haha.

thanks guys for the helpful tips. i love this forum.

with that said, its not the wicking that bothers me so much as how quickly the performance seems to decrease. like i said above, there is buildup down near the wicks. and no matter how much i blow in, suck out, squeeze, fill, shake, tilt...i cant get it to mix again. maybe its the juice im using, but either way i think its the culprit that is causing weak, cool, off-flavor hits. i wish there was a solution to this other than having to clean it out every 2-3 fills >> that sounds like once a day to me...and if thats the case these probably wont be worth it, because i like to run 3-4 cartos at once (different flavors), so most of them may sit around for a day or two with juice in them.

Hello everyone, I have been using these since August and I love them. My wife and I both use them, I use the 510 and she uses the 808. I use them for two fills then disassemble and clean with hot water. Dry overnight and dry burn. Be very careful during dry burn I have fried a couple and had a few short out on there own. But these are absolutely great as far as consistency, taste and vapor. I'm using 24mg, 80 PG 20 VG mix (Vanilla Gorilla from EC Blend)

They are good, but the vape quality deteriorates far too quickly with these. Two fills is far too frequent (for me) to have to clean these things. I had to stop using these for this very reason. I'll take a brand new one, and only after 6-8hrs. i begin to notice a decrease in performance, regardless of the juice i'm using.

With that said, imo, when they perform at their best, the flavor and vapor production is unprecedented. Far better than any rebuildable, and other current popular hardware.
