This is NOT my original idea. I saw it in a review SteveVapes did on the Phoenix and it works incredibly well and is super easy to do. I really like the Phoenix's, I just don't love them. And I have had zero luck with atomizers, but I was looking for a way to try out new juices without committing a carto to them. This is an awesome way to make a great atty out of something you may already have:

- Attach your Phoenix to a device (eGo, etc.)
- Remove whatever mouthpiece or drip tip you're using on it
- Gently pull the tube off of the connector (It won't take much effort at all)
- The metal air tube and silicone ring thing will likely stay in the tube. Just push them out.
- Measure how long you'd like the tube to be and mark with a Sharpie
- Find something similar in diameter to the inside of the tube and insert it into the tube. This will help the tube keep it's
shape and not collapse while cutting it. I used the handle of an xacto knife, but a pencil or similar would work as well.
- Use a pipe cutter to cut the tube to size. You could probably also use an xacto or utility knife to cut the tube, but of
course be careful!
- Pop the now short tube back on the connector and add your choice of drip tip.

Here's a pic of the Phoenix atty with a SuperT shorty delrin drip tip on my Bolt next to an unmodded Phoenix:

I've been only using it for about a day, but it's working incredibly well so far. With the unmodded Phoenix, I seem to run out of juice before the clearomizer dies, so there's potential for this being an amazing atty for like 2 bucks. I only got it to leak once and that was when I WAY over dripped and it leaked out through the connector. I found that 3-4 drops at a time works well and I get 3-5 good drags off it it. I also picked up a bottle of "flavor eraser" from vixen vapor and it's doing a great job getting rid of flavors between tastings. Also, because the tube is clear, you can see if there is any juice in the atty and avoid a dry hit. If you don't see anything on the wicks, you need to drip.

Definitely something worth trying!

I used to do that with the Sapphire Bud, except I couldn't cut the tube because of the way the air vent was designed. I just popped the top plate off of the atomizer base, tossed the useless little nub of wick out, put the loooong tube back on, and used a juice bottle with a leur-lock needle cap to drip. They were crappy as cartomizers, but not bad as dripping attys :)

Interesting, I have a Phoenix with a tight draw. Couldn't find any info on how to fix that, so decided I'd have to take it apart to see what the deal is. Still found no way to fix it, the thought: what if I take the tube out and cut the plastic barrel in half and drip with it instead of throwing it out. It worked pretty well, so I thought: I wonder if anyone else thought of this, and here I am.

Twisted minds think alike.
