Phoenix Dripping Atomizer, SS Wick help...

I recently bought my first rba, a phoenix dripping atomizer. I have been running it with a SS wick and am wondering if it is dangerous to attach my wire underneath the screws at the top of the positive and negative posts instead of in the small holes where the leads are intended? The plastic insulators tend to melt if I use the intended holes and it also seems more prone to hot spots.

That will work fine.

(I used to do a vertical ss mesh and always used one hole and one screw top to get the variation in lead height.)
