saw something about drilling out the phoenix for bottom feeders, so went ahead and did it, since my reo is my main pv.
just wanted to share that it works. took my smallest drill bit and with a handheld drill just carefully went to town on it. a center punch in the positive terminal is a good idea considering the small work space. didn't disassemble at all other than remove the wick and coil, and just drilled through everything there. obviously do this at your own risk

the air hole (on the side) made it a little to loose on the draw for me, and by holding that hole when taking a draw i found it functioned much better, and kept the atty nice and wet, where as before it dry out and i'de have to take many sharp draws to keep it moist, so i scuffed the hole up and did a little bead of solder
thing works great, i use a vertical ss mesh wick, a rather small one, oxidized real well, and about 5 wraps on my kicked reo. just a quick note though, the positive and neg terminals are very very tight, so i use an unsealed 510 to 510 adapter, (or a sealed 510 i had with a center post i pulled from a carto and cut down) and now it doesn't short and fires fine with my kick. It worked fine on my omega, but not my reo. depends on your connection on your mod if you're going to have probs or not. ( did this before me putting the hole in it)
