Just got a phoenix rba. Works fine with a little ego battery but when I put it on the spinner, the spinner blinks. Other clearos I have work on both. It seems like its a circuit protection thing that the spinner is doing but if anything the ohms are kinda low. I'm at a loss both are new toys and the wont play nice together! Any ideas???

I'm kinda new to the RBA's. how do you check for shorts? Don't think there are shorts cause the rba works on my small ego batteries. By center pin you mean inside the threads where the rba connects to the battery? Pretty sure that's fine.

You've metered the RBA to ensure there are no shorts? Center pin not making contact?

Could be several things but those are 2 of the more common.

Sorry, posted and had to run..

By shorts I mean using a multi-meter you can get a good reading from the RBA and if you touch the leads (Positive to center/Negative(ground) to outside threads) it reads an Ohms?

What I mean about the stuck center pin is sometimes people over crank down on their tanks, atty's, etc and the center pin on the eGo's get pushed down into the battery housing. Depending on what you use this may or may not make contact the next time and the battery will look as if it's firing but it won't activate the device. This is because the center pin isn't making contact with the device's center pin. It's a common issue at times. There are video's and threads here about how to get that center positive pin on the battery back up so it makes contact.

So sorry but I have to run again :(

my guess is that the ohms/resistance is too low for the spinner. i didnt realize ego type batts had short circuit protection, but thats what im guessing the flashing is. its possible your other batts dont have short protection, or maybe the threshold for shorts is set higher. unless the batt needs charging, thats what my guess as to what the flashing is.

Thanks!
I used a multimeter and was getting an reading of about 1.5 ohms which I know is kinda low and the center pin is fine because 1) I just got the spinner yesterday and 2) other tanks work fine on it!

I think Kemosabe might be on to something.

Thanks Kemosabe! It definitely looks like a short circurt thing that it is doing but i didnt realize to low of phms would cause that thought too high of ohms would. i thought at low ohms it just wouldnt produce much vapor. The atty reads 1.5 ohms. Since the spinner starts at 3.3 and I think the ego is lower so maybe that's why it works on the smaller ego but it won't work on the spinner. Guess I gotta wrap a few more coils and try that! Thanks!!!

Well I figured it out!!! It was The center post. Last think i tried and of course it worked. I didn't understand I could push the base atty and move that pin. 3 coils later, oh well I got it! Those stupid ego battery connectors are a lot smaller than the spinner and it definitely pushes the pin up into the atty. thanks for all the help guys!!!
