Reo#4 came today, a Woodvil 18650 Jatoba. Set it up with an extra brass RM2, 2.1 ohm micro coil and KDG wick. Nice feel in the hand, well made but slow to get the coil up to speed even with a fully charged batt. Still like it alot, just need to get a different coil built for it tomorrow. The RM2 has the standard air hole... so I'll also need to drill it larger for my long lung hits.

Brings up the question, what ohm range are folks running your 18650 Woodies at?

Also got the 2 brass doors bought from Rob for the Mini and LP Grand to try the patina thing when I get the stuff to do it with.

The required pic... a fast one only for now, I have playing to do. ;)

Thanks. I didn't know what the lower limit ohm wise was on the Woodies, why I built high then asked when it didn't perform. With it going on 4AM here and me still fooling around it's going to be a noraml night again with no sack time. So I recoiled the Woodie at 1.0 ohms, and it makes all the difference in the world. Now instead of purring like a kitten it roars. I love the metal Reo's just fine - they are not going anywhere. But I am a wood guy that crafted woods for over 50 years for my hobbies, etc and still have lots of exhibition grade woods in storage from around the world. I could get real used to this Woodie, and some more company for it.
Better yet a Woodie party.

I have read of people using Woodies down to 0.8 ohms without issue, and have not read of anyone reporting a Woody failure, so the lower limit is unknown as far as I know. I want to get another lacewood when the next batch is made, my wife adopted the last one I got, and as it has aged and got darker (more contrast in the grain) it is turning into a really beautiful piece.

Yep that Jatoba looks great too!

Prolly best that you got the woody early, so the others didn't have too much time to bond. Histrionics and petulance would have ensued.

BTW, the technical resistance gate for your woody is the on/off switch - rated at 3 amps. The fire button is rated at 5. Never had a problem at .9 myself, tho.

Thanks for the numbers Papa L. I got caught up in the cloud chaser thing for a while doing lower sub ohm builds (not extreme sub ohm with extreme wattage though), but it was not my thing. So I no longer push my gear in my coil builds, got all the feak coil builds out of my system that were a PITA to build anyway. The only pushing my gear gets now days is my long lung hits. Most of my builds have stayed simple and mostly within the 1 to 2 ohm range since, a few maybe down to .7 ohm. Some of my favorite jooses like around 1.2-1.5 for the best flavor in mechmods, some 1.8 and I have others I build 2.2 to 2.5 for the same reason. It's all about flavor to me and not clouds or throat hit, I build for flavor. So I doubt any of my Reo's will see much in the way of sub ohm at all, and none below .7 ohm. That's my thing, YMMV.
