I prefer the dialog it starts if the pics aren't labelled. Real interaction is rewarding instead of just having zombies posting and labeling their pictures, and people mindlessly refreshing the page.

I do see your point. It will spark conversation, and it will keep the thread moving and interesting.

Gosh, I really wish you guys would get in a habit of detailing your pics. They are pretty to look at, but it's kind of a waste if we don't know what it is. :\

Mine were all Vamos and Twists/Spinners, but I'll label my updated pic once I post it. :D

I honestly don't see how:

"What mod is that" followed a few posts later by a response "it's xxxx mod"

Adds to conversation..

But hey, I am an odd duck so carry on..

Personally, I'd rather read the mod list WITH the photo post..

And lets remember that this thread is in the New Members Forum

Plenty of discussion can happen. How do you like it? Where did you get it? What's your favorite configuration with it? Where did you get it? When will it be in stock next? How does it compare to xxxxx? What juice do you like to use with it?

Not all of the interaction has to be in the thread either, I've gotten plenty of PM's inquiring further, and that's how I've made several of my friends on here.

Sure some of the discussion can be a dead end "what mod is that, ok thanks", but that's definitely not the case all of the time. I don't like the implication that this has to be a self-service database of mod pictures for the lazy or antisocial. Again, if you can't be bothered to type 4 words to find out what something is, did you really NEED to know?

Also, I think it's a good point that this is the new members forum. They should be encouraged to interact with the rest of the members, not discouraged from it while also being dumped on with tons of information and left hanging.

Considering that this thread is in the newbie forum, and newbies are often too intimidated to ask, I'm with raq on this one. Identify what's in the picture. Such identification does not halt further discussion. People are still free to ask, "What is your configuration? Where did you get it? How does it compare?"

Edit: Allow me to add that the problem with not labeling your pics is thus. Once the question has been asked and answered, there likely will have been another page or two of pictures, and context has been lost. The answer no longer matters. The train of thought has been derailed.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree..

I don't like sifting through all the "what mod is that" posts that could easily be avoided by users posting what it is from the get go.

You say the person not asking what it is is lazy and I say the person posting the mod and not listing it is lazy..

Again.. This is in the New Members Forum

Conversation about where did you get it, how do you like it, have you tried this or that would be awesome.

My best guess is that this thread is cluttered with what is probably over 5,000 posts asking "what is that"

I digress..

And now, back to the regularly scheduled programming (read: what mod is that?) LOL

That's a pretty strange attitude to have and I'm sure the 20,000+ posters appreciate being called zombies. :grr:

You're pretty good at name calling...zombies, lazy, antisocial. Maybe you should study up on diplomacy. There's no need for name calling in this forum.
