2nd coil ever......getting prettier! lol

Gotta love that ss rope!

One suggestion, take a small piece of mesh, oxidized and wrap it around the rope, then your wire. Wire around rope without it, tends to develop hot spots.

But, like I always try to say... Whatever works for you!

Thanks for the info bud! One question......how do i get the mesh to stay on the SS rope? Just wrap it very tightly?
Thumbs up for a neat build! Just an added advice. With the wire looped clockwise on the wick, make it counter clockwise under the screws. Lesser wire not in contact with the wick and screws, lesser chances of a hotspot. ;)
Thanks for the advice as well! Will do! Just waiting on more mesh atm :( Should be here today

I've not had an issue with it wanting to unwrap itself. I use just enough to make two wraps, then, take the torch to it. If you roll it like you were making a normal mesh wick (rolling between your fingers), it'll hold its shape. Besides, once you wrap the wire, it's not coming off.

I agree with Justinred, the shorter the wires are to the negative and positive terminals, the better, I use a washer under the negative screw to shorten it too. You can also bend the top of the wick closer to the positive post to shorten up the top wire. Don't put to much tension on the wire or it might pop the coil, use a bigger washer if need be.

It's fun experimenting with this stuff!

Enjoy!!
