Just got my new mod in, its the smoktech magneto...... IMO so far its the best mechanical mod for the price, can't beat $35 bucks shipped and this thing feels solid and the threads are pretty smooth, oh and it hits pretty damn good as well :vapor:

The other one is my k100 with igo-w, the smoktech has the fasttech V9 rda and the juices are love potion (by lucid), peach rings and blue shark (by a local in socal called vapor boy)..........

Gotta link for the magneto my friend? Very nice mod!

Honesty, did the brass center pin make a big difference? I'm only able to find the center pin in plated silver. Wondering if the 4 bucks for each is really worth it.

My first mechanical that isn't a hybrid, the Magneto sans the smok logo with Igo L and no name drip tip.
AW18350, 1Ω coil of .6mm X .07mm Kanthal ribbon cold twisted then 3 of those hot twisted opposite direction 5.6 ohm ft, over a couple layers of 400 mesh, over boiled 100% cotton.
DIY mix of 6 different bakery TFA flavors 2/3 VG 1/3 PG 20mg/ml

where did you get the Un-logo version , or did you take it off yourself. I dont like logos and I hear great things about the Magneto.

I also didn't want the logo, but was willing to pay more for this un-logoed version:

SMOK Magneto

Edit: Check out post 17759 for a better deal.

increase the gauge of your wire, in this case ribbon, to get lower ohms

Well, yes and no. I believe that the resistance is not the only factor that will make a better vape.

This is interesting. What's the advantage of twisted ribbon exactly?

I am sure some will say balderdash to the following, but here goes:

When I only had 32ga I twisted 2 pieces together to get a lower ohm coil. After I got different sizes of wire I found that the twisted 32 seemed to work better than a single of larger wire of the same resistance. I also got some ribbon at the same time and was not as impressed as I thought I was going to be. So I twisted ribbon to lower the resistance. I am a symmetrical kind of person by personality so I was trying to make them pretty. One combination I made looked so gnarly that I almost threw it away but gave it a try out of curiosity. That combination had some magic that could not be explained by resistance. I needed to find that magic, so I used a scanner at 1200 dpi to examine it. I figured that the liquid must be wicking itself around the wires giving more exposed area of heated liquid and the gnarly part helped the wicking. I also found that wrapping a couple layers of mesh over cotton or silica was better than winding the gnarly combination directly on either. I figured that the mesh kept more of the coil from smothering where air couldn't get to.

So I have been experimenting with different wire from 28ga to 32ga and ribbon .5 X .1 & .6 X .07 in many different ways to twist different combinations together to give the most exposed area that liquid can wick to. By examining the wire with a scanner and then trying it in a coil it seems that my assumption may indeed be correct. Compared to a single wire with the same number of wraps and the same (or as close as it can be) resistance some of the configurations I have made work about the same, but some have some extra magic I can't replicate with single wire. The one shown in my previous post works better at 1.2 ohms than a single at 1ohms and at 1 ohm it really outshines it. At .6 ohms a similar looking combination is on the verge of dry hit with a fresh battery, but a single doesn't have that problem. Liquid wicking on the wire must not be able to keep up with the heat at that level. It seems to be a juggling act of area exposed to air, wicking the liquid onto that area, & heat because I can go too far either way with any one of them. I have went through a lot of wire and time hunting for the magic and I think I am narrowing it down.

You can get the unlogo version here:

vapingcraze.com

It actually gives you the option with or without logo and it's only a little over $40 shipped.....
