No.. no funny smell at all. I guess it smells like a copper pipe, which it is. Here is a write up about it at vapesquad.
As a matter of fact I have been known to rock a cape while I vape. However in this case I was a victim of my nemesis , auto correct.
Nice kit! That's about what I would recommend to someone who's just getting into customized vaping setups. I recognize the EVOD clearo and the batteries, but what is the other clearo?

Got this on the way out the door for work. Now I get to stare at it for 8 hours before really using it.
My Terminator-C just arrived today. Tastes and hits just as well as my Penelopes, but holds a lot more juice.
I know it's a horrid gap right now. I'll play with it later, maybe employ another o-ring just below the cup to keep the center post from sticking out so far. Or hopefully when my ELA arrives I can compensate at the battery post.

You don't have to screw the ceramic housing down all the way, just screw down until the center post is flush or recessed a bit...then screw the ring down to lock it all in place.

I REALLY like the Pipe Ma'D. But you're KILLING me with those gorgeous SE pics. My RGU is BONE stock. I'm not giving in to what I know is HD's evil plan, which is, bend em over on the initial purchase, then bend em over again on the upgrades. I insist on only bending over once.
Sigh... We all know how this story ends... It's a lot like vaping.
That's why I bought the SE, HD could only bend me over once. Then V&H got to bend me over because we all know how bad stock pipes and headers are.
On my Penelopes, between the ceramic cup and the knurled wire crimp nuts there's a hard plastic insulator I think. On this Terminator the nuts are insulated from the cup by a spongier o-ring.
I feel like I have to crank the knurled bits higher up into the cup for enough tension to keep the + wire from slipping out, thereby compressing the insulating o-ring, which then makes the bottom-most o-ring higher. All this results in my cranking the cup / center post assembly farther down into the base to seat well enough to discourage leaks.
I say all that to ask: are you basing your advice on the GG Ody or the Chinese clone? I suspect the GG wouldn't pose this conundrum.
I only have the Terminator. I haven't had any leaking with mine.
New double wrap coil arrangement on the AGA-T. It's not pretty, but it's sub ohm and the throat hit is stellar
