Do you have a pierced tongue? I've had mine pierced for almost two decades. Since it's been healed for so long I usually almost forget that it's there unless I chomp down on it or have an issue with it. Very infrequently I'll get a sore spot around the piercing that I've chalked up to the equivalent of an acid sore/pimple that we get on our tongue when we eat too much acid. I deal with it till it heals if it's not bad, or take the barbell piercing out if it's painfully annoying.

Since I've started vaping however, I've been taking the barbell out more often because of a sore spot around it, especially in the past two months. I haven't eaten any acidic/spicy foods that I'm not used to eating regularly so it can't be that. I have however, been vaping the life outta a few new fruity DIY juices that I just can't put down. I've dodged vapers tongue with lots of luck, hydration, and tongue brushing but I can't help but think that the sore tongue is related to the recent crazy strawberry and dragons blood plumes. It made me very conscious of what I do with my tongue when I vape, and my tongue is never relaxed in the process. I'm guessing shooting a blast of Nic at a flexed muscle with a hole in it can't be very soothing, but I don't recall it ever happening when I smoked.

Have any of you had the same experience, even if to a lesser degree? I could always just stick to my juices with less/no fruits and see what happens, but I don't know how long it would take to figure it out, and I don't know how long I could resist twisting on one of the usually full tanks I have sitting and taunting me with their yumminess!

I've never had any issues with mine. Or if I have, I don't remember it. I've only had mine pierced for about 5 years, but I had no irritation with vaping or smoking. Are you using a standard length? Maybe try something shorter. Have you tried cleaning it more often, like taking it out once or twice a day? The only thing I can think of is that maybe some flavor particles are clinging to it, getting inside the hole, and causing irritation that way, but I have no idea how likely that is. I hope you figure it out soon, though! That has to suck.

I've had mine about 16 yr, I have had the little sore at the top of the piercing a few times, it feels like a bit of foods has got wedged in or scratched it. I've got a lip piercing too and had a little irritation on the outside of that from time to time but it's quite rare and usually clears after a day or two.

Not had any probs since vaping but I've only had my kit a couple of months and cut out the last few analogs just over a week ago.

Same as anything else, if it's sore you become more aware of each movement. Maybe you got a spit of hot liquid near your piercing? Or it could just be a little swollen and take a few days to clear.

if it keeps coming back, try to hold your tip in a different position so it's not directed at the piercing.

Good luck, it can be irritating just talking when it gets sore :-(

My tongue's been pierced for over 15 years now... Outside of the agony of the first week of healing (which I still remember like it was yesterday), I've never had a problem with it. I eat competition style levels of spicy on a regular basis..

I only take it out for a soaking/cleaning. It feels SO WEIRD when it's not there, like I'm missing all my teeth or something, I can't stand it for longer than a few minutes I get all erked out. lol

I have several different lengths/gauges that I swap now and then when I take it out to soak and clean it. It doesn't seem to help much when it's sore and i end up keeping it out for a day or two. I clean it pretty often, and brush it daily so I don't think it's an issue of stuck food or anything. Thanks though. :)

I get juice on my tongue once in a while when I pull too hard, and I also wondered if that could be doing it. It's never in the piercing, just close enough to b bothersome when the barbell rubs it. I can say I have tried pointing the drip tip elsewhere just in case lol.

Oh I'll never forget the healing pain! It didn't help that I bit it in the first week while trying to carefully drink some broth while avoiding the rice at the bottom. I got a grain and well, let's just say I learned how involuntary a muscle our tongues really are. Man did that hurt!

It does feel crazy when I take it out. Is it me, or does your tongue feel thin as paper for a bit at first lol? I talk funny too a bit.

I remember going grocery shopping right afterward picking up friendly stuff to eat. I walked in thinking "oh man this is nothing, just like my ears and eyebrows, no pain what-so-ever"... by the time I was at checkout OH HELL IT HURT.

My dumbazz, for some reason, thought cottage cheese would be a good thing to eat, thinking anything soft was fine, and not thinking about food particles/chunks... Such an idiot...

Your tongue is probably just sensitive to something in some of the e-liquids your using, and it's just "stretching" more around the piercing, agitating the situation.

Time to narrow it down, unfortunately there's no way around a simple process of elimination. PG? VG? Certain flavors? Nicotine?

Good luck

I've had my tongue pierced about 13 years now. The only time I notice that I have problems with it is if I start to get dehydrated. I had some sensitivity on my tongue a week or so ago and realized I hadn't been drinking enough water that day along with my vaping. Mine will actually get like extra fluid built up around the piercing from top to bottom, I can usually painlessly just put pressure on it and it dissipates. DRINK ALL THE WATER!!!

I can't speak from personal experience but the only thing I thought of you havn't ruled out is the pg. With having a whole in your tongue I'd bet if you had a minor allergy to pg it could upset your tongue and not your throat. You mentioned 2 new flavors check their ratio of pg/vg. I'd been vaping for 2 months and had a wicked sore throat outta no where, come to find out the Carmel tobacco I was guzzling was 70/30 pg/vg vs the 50/50 I was use to. Best of luck, that problem has got to suck.

I've started drinking more water and Gatorade on e in a while and I think that has helped keep away vapers tongue, but the tongue sores have happened even with drinking more.

As for the PG, it could be. But I make my juices at 50/50 and rarely use more PG than that although I have done more VG at times. I guess I'll just have to deal with it lol. Thanks everyone!! :)

It's the acid from the nicotine. I get irritations on my tongue quite often. Not from a piercing, but from testing my DIY mixes by tasting the juice.

I really think that the nic may just be the culprit. It seems to make the most sense since I've had this happen back when I smoked also, just not as often. Now with the nic being on my tongue more often in my juice, I'd co-sign that. ;)

Too high of voltage, arcing between piercing and drip tube. Switch to non conductive drip tube.

Hmmm...I don't think so since I only recently upgraded to vv/vw and had been using the clearos that are all one plastic piece with the plastic inner tube connecting to the head/chimney.

That's interesting though, since I'd had a dispute with someone I know about something related. He swears he quit vaping and went back to smoking because he kept getting shocked on his tongue. I argued that it was probably little drops of juice spitting on his tongue because when I started vaping I kinda thought it was tiny shocks myself until I got used to the taste of ejuice. Interesting.

I once put the "chimney" of my protank on crooked and it made contact with the inner tube of the tank, and could most definitely feel the current on my lips and tongue when I fired. Kind of an isolated incident though, but it can happen.
