I was loving it when I first started using LR attys on my Ego. Then later I read about some issues that many people experienced with using LR on 650mah
batteries.
Basically over time it will diminish the batteries lifespan because of the way the lower resistance draws on the battery.
2nd issue and most important, if the atty/carto drops below 1ohm battery will die, it will fry out the electronics in the batt because it is causing it to discharge too quickly. (Bear in mind I'm no electronics wiz so I may have misunderstood the exact "why it happens").
I took my ever faithful blue Lr atty that I love and tested it on the multimeter. It showed fluctuating between 1.1-1.2 ohms. Mush too low and too close for comfort for my taste. I switched back to a standard atty.
I still use it, just not heavily. Also looking back, I had an incident with a clone batt I bought from TV, I thought the batt was defective, and to a certain point it was, but it exhibited a behavior described in the thread, so I am cautious now because of that.
But then again I was rocking that LR atty several weeks without issues and it still works whenever I fire it up. If you notice, some vendors are posting on their sites not to use LR on Ego batts.
Just something to bear in mind. Not a big deal to many people if they have to replace a batt, all of our gear has to be replaced sooner or later, but for some folks who are on a budget it could be a real problem.
