Well, the best thing to inhale into your lungs is just air, but vapers, me included, are of the opinion that vaping is much less harmful than smoking. I can tell you that I have gone from smoking a pack or more per day for forty years to smoking just a couple of cigarettes a day. My goal of course is to quit altogether, but I have not smoked thousands of cigarettes over the las year and a half, so it's an improvment. Even my cardiologist is OK with me vaping rather than smoking.

There may be some things we don't know about vaping and it's effects but it is about harm reduction, and I am convinced that it is better than smoking for my health - I know that I feel a lot better and don't wheeze, cough, or get winded like I used to. That's proof enough for me.

I am sure you will get MANY testimonials from other folks here that will say very much the same thing, about how vaping has improved their health.

As far as smoking cessation, vaping is the ONLY thing other than Marine Recruit Training that has been able to keep me off analogs for any length of time. Boot camp only worked for as long as I was there and I started smoking again right after graduation. 30 years of smoking almost 1.5 packs/day at the end and I haven't touched one since July.

To me it's about feeding my addiction to nicotine while avoiding the harm caused from cigarettes. As for health affects, I can only speak from personal experience. I hope that I don't wake up 10 years from now and discover that vaping was the worst thing for my body that I've ever done but until then I'll listen to what my body is telling me:

  • I no longer cough and hack every morning as I did when I was on the analogs.
  • I feel much better (more energy)
  • My food tastes better
  • My sense of smell has returned
  • I can inhale deeply without effort
  • My sinuses have cleared
Dr. F has some good studies and there is some good info in the health forum on here. I'm sure someone will chime in here with some links for you.

I can only relay my own experience, but I found vaping to be a complete miracle for my ability to quit smoking. It seemed like it was almost instantly that I was able to have no desire to revert to analog even when I was with my fiance' who has yet to convert to vaping. She is coming around though and I don't think it will take very long at all following she and I moving in together when I can be around her more and when she sees how literally simple it is to do. The rewards (as outlined above by other members) are almost instantaneous and I literally FEEL healthier after only four months off of boxed smokes, it really is amazing. I would implore ANYONE who is thinking of going digital to make the transition as soon as possible, you won't regret it!

There are no studies to show if vaping is harmful to your health or not. But there are several statistics to confirm 100% that smoking cigarettes are very bad for you and others around you. The only thing I can go by is how much better I feel now that I have quit smoking and started vaping. I can breathe better, food tastes great and I don't smell like an ashtray. All you can do is give it a try and see for yourself. Try to go to a place that specializes in e-cigarettes and get information from them and buy your battery and tank from them. Don't go to a gas station and buy your vaping stuff, they don't know as much as a vape shop would.
